eBay buyer wants to return item before he's received it :(

Yeah I used to think the same as you but the 6 month charge back warranty was the killer blow for me. Until 6 months have gone by you never know for sure whether you will have your money removed. If you are a regular seller then unlikely you will have unlinked your bank account/cards so it will come as a bolt out of the blue.

You aren't safe until 6 months is up.

But like I said, on the other hand eBay is by far the best place to buy stuff. Hell even ocuk doesn't give a warranty as long on its b grade stuff!

You don't have to unlink your card and bank account, you just need to make sure you don't have a PayPal direct debit set up.

Update

Got the tablet back, box was unopened and everything's fine :)

I've accepted the return on eBay and clicked refund, is there anything else I need to do to claim my fees back, does the buyer have to do anything else?

Thanks again

Edit, Just got the following message from eBay.

"You've initiated a £265.00 refund for NVIDIA SHIELD 32GB through PayPal as an eCheque. Because it takes up to 6 working days to clear, the return will remain open. If the refund isn't received by then, the buyer can open an eBay Money Back Guarantee case. This can affect your seller standing.

Once the refund is complete, we'll credit you with the final value fee and the appropriate PayPal fee."

I think this answers my question!

How would the refund not be received by them, don't eBay automatically send it?

You need to sell it again, and this time you will get scammed

I have a total of 140 ebay feedbacks. 21 of them from selling stuff. I bought and sold lots of stuff, expensive computer equipment, cameras, tv, huge wardrobe, bicycles even a piano.
No problem.

Cryers gonna cry

P.S. I know I am doing it wrong and I am in the wrong.

Sorry to bring this back up!

Just received a bill today for £26.48 from eBay despite refunding the buyer 3 weeks ago and updating status on eBay :(

I can't see a way to close the case and stop or get my fee back :(

Anyone know how to sort this out?

Just refuse to refund him. Refuse to have it returned because of his error.

End of problem.

Ridiculous advice. What do you think is going to happen? He'll take a hammer to it show the pictures to eBay and say "I want my money back!" and you know what? Ebay will give it to them and take the money out of your PayPal account and the OP will end up with a box full of bits back.

Don't have the money in there? It'll go into the red. "I'm not going to pay the bill they sent me!" What do you think they're going to do? They'll send the debt collectors after you, do you think they're simply going to ignore a substantial debt?

To the OP: he sounds like a perfectly honest buyer with a genuine case of Buyers Remorse. Be polite, professional and agree to a mutual and get the thing back, he's even offered to pay the postage. Sounds like an ideal buyer, barring the backing out of the sale.

The worst thing you could have done is post on here for advice to be honest :p

Ain't that the truth. In the future for advice go to the Ebay forums the MSE forums, or anywhere where there are professional ebay traders who actually know what they're talking about.
