Ebay charges

i sold my camera last week and i stated that it came with a 512mb CF and a 2GB CF memory cards,

shes sent a complaint saying she wants money back because 'she assumed the CF card was the one that came with the camera, the one provided is slow and no name brand'
i wouldnt mind but i sold it for £225, and ive been charged £22.50 + ~£1 listing + £8 paypal already

I'm afraid you'll see your Paypal account debited, placing the full amount on temporary hold until she sends it back to you.

I don't get ebay, if you are a private seller then DSR should not apply. Trouble is, ebay is based offshore and i've experianced speaking to them and you know you're just wasting your time by doing so as they will always refund the buyer.

It started going all corporate and capitalist when they removed the feedback option for sellers so we can't leave negative feedback for all the bad buyers out there.

I pay around £320 per month on eBay fees (business seller) but I do get a 25% discount for being top rated. I basically lose 10% on every sale, once listing fees, final value fees and paypal fees are taken into account. On my website I run myself, it has roughly 5% of the sales of eBay, but I only lose the 2.3% paypal fees (plus very minor hosting costs). eBay make it plain what they are charging you, you do not have to use it.
However, I do agree they are getting very greedy, and are trying there best to get rid of small sellers.
No negative feedback for buyers was a massive mistake. Yet they will never reinstate it.

Yeah, I think the worst thing eBay did was when they bought out Paypal and made it compulsory for eBayers to have a linked Paypal account. Then they banned Google Checkout as a payment method. Oh well. Google will get the last laugh as they dominate the world.

How is it scandalous? You do not have to sell there.
In fact, it tells you numerous times when listing what the charges will be. Next to Buy It Now it says (LISTING FEES) With a link to the fees page.
There is no small print. Its all in black and white. It even asks you at the end to confirm that the listing fees are correct, and that you are happy with it.
Just because you cannot work out what you will be paying atthen end, doesn't make it wring, just means you cannot use a calculator.
Yes, it can be a shock, but it is all there when you are lisitng. Don't forget, you do not HAVE to use eBay.

And lol at eBid. Its so limited to so very few countries, no good at all. I tried selleing on there, got 1 sale in 2 months.

I rarely use E-Bay these days to sell anything and the charges to seem to have increased loads from the past but I am old before my time and often watch flog it after work.

From what I can see, the auctions charge the seller 15% + Vat and roughly the same to the buyer. Raking it in from both ends! Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Its a right rip off the ****s!

I sold an iphone 4 on there for £420 ages ago, ebay take 10% £42 but they dont deduct that oh no they put that full amount into your paypal account so the ****s can take a further %6 of that amount!!
so %6 of £420 is £25 + the ebay crap £42= £68.

So there goes nearly all my profit on that item. Its so greedy.

Hmm I have 1 book which will sell for like £35, not sure if its even worth putting it up on ebay, would Amazon be a better option?
