I was just about to post an eBay thread

I've just bought an item a few days ago I wish I hadn't
It's 1k and I think the seller is stupid or trying a scam

First, don't seem to get any contact after paying
2nd is been posted 1st class... 1k item.. First class
3rd it's posted half hour before I can get a late delivery cancellation

Any advice for when the parcel arrives?
If it is first class then I'm pretty sure I'm ok as I can claim it hasn't arrived of I get scammed
No tracking is provided

So I'm thinking I'm safe of it goes wrong.
It may may tie up funds for a while
I will be sure to film the unwrapping etc just to help.

Dread to think what (if anything) will turn up!

Just make sure that if you ARE asked for a signature when it arrives, you open and inspect the goods before signing.

I had a Special Delivery Item arrive with a hole in the package. I said to my postman can I check there is actually the correct item in there, he said I had to sign then check the item or refuse to sign.

Is that correct? I guess the safe thing to do is refuse.

Put an auction item on watchlist, forgot to check up on price towards auction end, remembered about said item the next day. Item won for a steal price.

Ebay fail.:(

Ebay is one place i stay well clear of. 1k spend!! On Ebay!! You must have very big danglies buddy! lol

Here's a quickie guys, tell me what you think.

Listed PSP, sold. Found battery to be dead before dispatching and buyer agreed to cancel, refund given.

Bought new battery for PSP and relisted 4 days later, sold to new ebayer and positive feedback received.

2 days ago first Ebayer rages and leaves negative feedback calling me a liar.

Asked Ebay to remove feedback but nothing yet and it's ruined my perfect 650 feedback, never had a problem.

Will they remove it?

It's a catch 22 really.

If he lets you open the box before signing, and you find that the item inside is damaged so you refuse to sign. When he takes it back to the depot, they'll see that it's already been opened and presumably he'll get in trouble for it.

But on the other hand, i think you'd struggle to entice a driver to stay put after you've signed for delivery to inspect it. They'll be running down your driveway before your parcel hits the floor.

I don't usually buy 2nd hand clothes, but some time ago there was a Hugo Boss suit with my measurements and the ad stated it was like new and worn once to a wedding.

I bid and got it for a steal.

When it arrived, i kid you not, it was old, really old, it smelled. I turned it inside out and at the crotch were pee stains - brown, crusty pee stains.

After bleaching my hands and eyes, i thought this guy is trying to scam me or is er, quite special. Rather than antagnosing him i said the suit unfortunately does not fit and could i return it.

The reply, i got was, of course you can, it is a shame the suit does not fit as it is quite stunning.

I replied that "yes it was and i was disappointed too" - i just wanted my money back.

Sent back, refund issued and the suit was back up and sold the following week.

Strangest thing ever!

Did it go for the same price?

It sounds like the 1st buyer is being rather melodramatic, but i could understand his point of view if the items been re-listed and now sold for a much higher price. He'll just assume you cancelled the order because it didn't get the price that you wanted.

On the other hand i suppose you could have told the 1st buyer that you'll need to replace the battery before shipping out.

Went for £4 more, roughly the cost to get a new battery. I did tell the buyer to keep an eye on my for sale list as I would possible be relisting soon.

He's wrong, he was probably in a rush and having you check is wasted time for him. When you sign it you're signing to say that you've accepted delivery and the items were in good order. We used to sign everything to say they were unchecked but even that's not good enough now.

You're well within your rights to open the package and check the contents before signing for it. It's at that point you sign it as normal, damaged but accept and then contact the vendor or refuse it and mark it as damaged. If you receive a parcel that is damaged visibly never ever sign for it before opening it and checking it, and even then sign for it as damaged in case the product doesn't work when you come to power it on/use it.

About 10 years ago I sold a PC tower, the buyer made out that the PC I sent was not the one advertised, also claimed it had broken during delivery. When I asked for photos he said the damage was too small to show up on the camera lol.

Then he made out he was a member of parliament and I shouldn't get on his bad side, he put in a claim through ebay and lost.
