Ebay: Guessing there is no recourse?

Absolutely this, I sold my GF's broken Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge on eBay for spares or repairs, making it very clear in the listing what was wrong with it (in bright red point 52 capitals) at the top of the description.

Needless to say, a few days later I get an item not as described case raised against me saying (in extremely poor English) the phone is faulty for exactly the reasons stated in the auction.

One 2 minute phone call to PayPal later and the case was closed in my favour, along with his account being investigated to see if he's been doing this to other people.

I swear we should have an intelligence test before you're allowed to use the internet!
 
Lots of starfish on eBay I'm afraid. Years ago, I sold a game (Sims 2). The winner claimed that it didn't work, so issued a refund and got the game posted back to me. Reinstalled it on my old laptop and it worked fine. Game was then sent to 2nd-highest bidder via 2nd chance offer and I got given positive feedback confirming that the game worked ok for them too. Approx. £10 lost in postage and 2nd-chance offer due to some starfish not checking their computer's health before bidding on my game.
 
It's happened to me a couple of days ago. Sold a digital download code from a movie we'd purchased on disc, posted the card off to the guy and get an email yesterday saying "it doesn't work". No way of proving it, guy probably a muppet trying to enter 0 as O or 1 as I but for the sake of a couple of quid no point in arguing, so just refunded. The previous two codes we sold had no issues.

As posted on here many times previously, regard anything you sell on Ebay (or Scumtree) and actually keep the money as one of life's little bonuses and don't list anything if you can't take being out of the item value sold elsewhere, the selling fee and shipping.
