Hi all,

Got a small problem with ebay. My missus sent out 8 cross-stitch kits to 8 individuals, all but 7 have arrived and we now have one person claiming theirs hasn't. All posted through royal mail standard first class post.

Now, tbh, I just have a gut feeling that this buyer is talking rubbish and the fact that ebay have removed the ability to post negative comments about buyers means we can't really check up on her. The missus has been using ebay for around 3 years and has never had this issue before.

So, can anyone advise on where we have to go from here?

If you didnt send signed for you have left yourself wide open for anyone to say they didnt arrive. One of the conditions of Paypal is that you must be able to prove that items posted have arrived.

You may be forced to give a refund.

It was a freebie with a magazine and it went for £7.50 + packaging so don't think she would have thought about sending "signed for"

doesn't matter if it costs 1 pence, always send signed. You'll have to refund. Get a claim form of RM. not sure how it works on normal mail though.

The problem is that there will always be "bad buyers" on EBay and there is very little you can do about it.
The removal of allowing bad feedback on buyers was unfortunately important as it meant a buyer could leave truthful feedback against a seller without risk of getting "bad feedback" in return.

Anything I sell at £20 or above I always send via RM Special Delivery.
If someone is spending £20 (which lets be honest is still a fair amount of money) then they are usually happy to pay another £4.50 for postage.
Anything I ever sell below £20 I accept as my "loss zone".
So I am happy to offer a lower form of delivery which doesn't include tracking and unfortunately means if there is a dispute I will lose.

It's a risk I will take and over the many, many years I've used EBay I've only been caught out once and I lost about £15 worth of stuff.
It might not have got there, but I'll never know.
