I'd say go with the official route. Send him nothing and send ebay proof of your pick up only and your courier agreement as well as copys of the emails sent to you. They shouldn't be able to ignore this.

Visit this site and prepare to be amazed by the cheek of some of these Nigerian scammers.
Also have a laugh at how some of these people intentionally get involved with the scammers in order to play them along for the laugh.
