Hi,

Didn't see anything on this here so:

Starting Oct 1, 2024, it is free to sell for UK-based private sellers. Sellers do not pay transaction fees when the item sells. This applies to all categories, except motors (Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles listings). You can list up to 300 items for free each month; after that, you'll pay 35p per listing. You may incur additional fees if you add optional upgrades to your listing, or if an item sells or ships to a buyer in a different country. Learn more about fees.

From 16 October 2024, private sellers will no longer have a payout schedule, as part of the launch of eBay balance. eBay balance will let you use the earnings from your sales to pay for items, postage labels, and cover other selling costs on eBay.co.uk. You can still withdraw your payouts on demand to send your funds directly to your linked bank account.

I did wonder why no 80% off selling fees have came through in the last few weeks, makes sense now.

Yeh I thought the 80% off fees deal going was odd.

This is great news for sellers and buyers.

It likely means things from private sellers will be a little cheaper as they won't have to factor in fees.

Most importantly they seem to be making a separation between UK and global, meaning it sounds like it should be easier to get local listings rather than some widget in Timbuktu with £300 postage. Hopefully.

Either way, good news. I have a bunch of stuff to offload, so this is great to hear.

Actively avoid ebay where possible. Its just commercial selling now - not real people selling genuine used items for a reasonable used price.

I'd never sell anything high value on there, too much risk of getting scammed.

Haha yeah i thought that. It's a bizarre amount. Surely just set it to 5-10
To be fair, a lot of people do wind up doing big clearouts all at once.

It's probably more about making sure they can still charge reasonable sized businesses a decent chunk of change than really trying to define exactly where private and business differs.

My one concern is that we'll probably now see dropshippers setting up multiple accounts to sit under 300 items per month, making the market even more congested and confusing than it already is with dupe listings.
