eBay just removed fees for private sellers (Except motors)

Nope, buyer choose delivery. Ebay charges higher then RM.

Yeah no I 100% doubt this because it would completely cripple the site beyond belief. Buyer fees are annoying but this is a kneecap. I dont believe it. Nobody on Reddit is talking about the courier situation.

EDIT: Sellers can opt out of simple shipping per listing, and it won't be applied retroactively. eBay hinted they will make it mandatory later - but they absolutely won't.

They will. Already told the shareholders.

Can you show a link to prove this? Mercari did all this and it killed them. It won't last.
It was in a newspaper report I saw last night, when I assumed the same as you. Go on the ebay community forums and it was linked off there in a post. I remember 'ebay were unavailable for comment'.

I stopped all activity on there some years ago after I sold a watch, and the buyer changed his mind and wanted to return it. He sent back a completely different item of similar weight and refused to cooperate. He claimed I switched the item, and ebay bizarrely believed him—even after I sent them proof. I called ebay, but they were unwilling to help and considered the matter closed. When I asked if they had reviewed the evidence, they refused to answer and tried to get me off the phone. I called several more times and threatened to take them to court to get my money back they then backed down and said a refund would be issued as a "goodwill gesture." In other words, ebay knew they wouldn't win and couldn’t be bothered with the hassle, so they issued a refund under the guise of goodwill, rather than admit their investigation practices are woefully ineffective and lazy.

I think he's suggesting 'currently' is just the transition stage. For many many years before, there were fees as suggested in his post.

Correct, "no fees" has only been a thing for a few months, before that it was something like 12.5%? Although like I said, I only ever sold when the 80% off offer was active

eBay need to bring back the filters. You can't narrow searches down like you used to be able to. It's currently on par with Amazon's abortion of a filter system.

If I can't get it collected by Royal Mail from a safe place then I won't sell anything on eBay in the future, they're going to lose a lot of private sellers if they implement that.
Same.

I can't believe they would allow buyers to pick any postage. There are some carriers I simply won't use

Just found out about the the no selling fees a month or so ago and sold a load of network gear for reasonable prices I was happy with and now they are flipping it all again! With the buyer protection fees and forced to use the eBay shipping method I'll be out again.

Time to raid the tech drawer and clear out anything of value before the rules come into effect!

When I was first using RM Tracked they were about 80p-£1 dearer.

I've got a cowson of a heartburn hence awake and posting at 3am !!
I think it changed then. I only ship RM Tracked and it was always exact same cost. I had however gone direct to ensure full £150 coverage for more expensive items as I didn't trust Packlunatics
