Ebay Problem - What Should I Do ?

Ignore it. After 3 days or whatever file an NPB against him. If he doesn't pay you'll get your listing/transaction fees back and he'll get a strike.

Play it by the rules don't faff about don't get suckered for a sob story keep it business like. If he turns nasty report everything to eBay. Keep it impersonal.

I would cancel, don't feel sorry for him he needs to learn that he should only bid on things he can afford. He can buy again in 9 days, there are many more VR Headsets for sale.

Yep, this.

Also, isn't there a 7 day refund policy? He might be looking to abuse that, no?

i don't see how it's a scam.

he's saying he will pay some of it tomorrow and then all of it in x days time. i don't see how he can do this through ebay so he's choosing to go outside of ebay.

so long as it's by bank transfer then he is fine.

however the buyer is a moron. best just to teach him a lesson otherwise he will likely do this again.

So the buyer will choose to go outside of Ebay to make the small payment?? I'm trying to understand the scam, how does this one work (if it is one)

if he pays by some dodgy method, then claims the money back.

like moneybookers or an escrow service, etc.

the only things you can rely on are bank transfer and cash. if someone bank transfers you money then says they didn't then the banks insurance covers it neither party loses out whilst they investigate and usually if they have lied the bank won't re-imburse them. however the bank does warn them in these cases it's likely they will know who transferred the money if it wasn't them as the security is so good.

you need to know passwords, pin codes, etc.

so he could be scammed if a dodgy payment method is used. this is why i said bank transfer or cash. both of them are pretty much bullet proof.

he is the one advocating going outside of ebay. so he is the one trying to circumvent ebays own protection. so the seller is covered if they try and play that card later down the line. the seller just says well he wanted it done that way and here is the proof. i tried to get him to pay using ebay and paypal but he didn't want to.
