Hi guys, if a buyer refuses to cancel a transaction am i then forced to sell to him or do i forfeit my final value fee?

There is no way in hell i'm gonna send a mobile phone to a member with 0 feedback and been a member for less then a week, when i stipulated in the auction condition that only bidds with decent feedback would be accepted.

Nope, you can claim the final value fee back off ebay if the buyer did not meet your terms of auction as you can refuse to sell. I have had this before.

Also report to ebay as suspected scammer, probably is so they will find in your favour.

A scammer because he's new to the website? Should shops turn away new customers too?

Everyone had zero feedback once, doesn't mean they are in any way a scammer because they bid on a high value item, what a ridiculous non sequitur.

Did you read the auction description and what he put in the 3rd post about only wanting bidders with feedback? It said very little apart from:

auction said:
One brand spanking new Desire HD, box only opened to retrieve sim card. Network locked as far as i'm aware as it was a contract upgrade.

ONLY BIDS FROM UK EBAYERS WITH DECENT FEEDBACK WILL BE ACCEPTED

It is also very common for new bidders to be buying mobile phones with a scam in mind. Considering the auction text and the risk of being scammed I feel it was afair assessment otherwise the buyer could have made the effort to email DIABLO. Many other auction types I would have said give the benefit of doubt bar in electronics and phones.

I only ever sell with collection only now and still get the price I want to avoid eBay woes. if someone is desperate for me to post and they pay by bank transfer I will post depending on the item. Sold some chanel sunglasses this way and the girl was so desperate for them she paid me £10 more than I was asking + postage (RMSD).

Yeah I did, and sellers can't impose restrictions at their whim so it's not here nor there. They have to abide by ebay rules, just as they can't say "bank transfer only". It certainly does not mean the bidder is a scammer in any case.

So the seller sells it to a guy with 0 feedback who turns out to be a scammer, meaning he loses the phone and the money and he's down £260 what would you suggest then?

Pheww anyway he agreed to cancel, so no hassle.

Thnaks for the help guys. /end thread

Sounds like he wasn't a scammer otherwise he would have sent a fake Paypal email and asked for it to be sent to Nigeria.

The same thing as I would say when a 100 feedback buyer scams him. Don't leave money in your paypal account.
