Ebay Q: Sending to an unconfirmed address

Sorry first off, I hate these threads too.

Buyer bought a HD from me and I'm about to send it off, but the address is ineligible for seller protection so what's to stop him from saying he hasn't received it once it arrives and claiming his cash back? Should I cancel the sale?

Don't sent to unconfirmed/unverified addresses. Contact buyer and tell him to supply you with a verified address, or else you won't send.
 
Tell them you're very sorry but you'll only send to a confirmed address and explain about the seller protection policy. They'll then have to get their address confirmed with Paypal. It takes a few days but whatever you do don't send that item unless they sort it. Chargebacks are far to common with Paypal nowadays to make it worth the risk.

Update: Sent an email to the guy and the unconfirmed address he supplied with payment is his work address so it can't get confirmed. He has supplied me with his home address but it's not officially confirmed on the paypal payment.

Should I refund payment and ask him to resend payment with a confirmed delivery address, or just send to the unconfirmed via RMSD? I'm getting pretty sick of thinking about this this now, I should've just sold it on the MM!

I used to get this carry on with a lot of buyers, I would just refund him and tell him to pay via a confirmed address or else you wont post it.
 
Then you take a gamble. Send it now and run the risk of losing the cash later (and it seems a high risk to me) or refund the money now.
 
My home address is verified, but Im never there, so sellers mainly send to my work address and have no problems in doing so, and never had a complaint yet.

Mind you i dont live in Nigeria and I dont want to scam you. :D
 
I'm just gonna send it to the unconfirmed address then close my paypal account. I can't be arsed with this hassle again! :D

It wont let me issue a refund because theres no funds. It takes 5 days to transfer funds from a bank account. And 5 days to transfer back. Jeezo.

No, nor do you want to spend the ill-gotten gains on Wee Beasties and spend the night getting drunk in the dock park.... :D

You've got nothing to gain by closing your PayPal account. If the seller did end up claiming (and most probably he won't so don't panic), even if your account is empty or closed, PayPal could still pursue you for the funds AFAIK.
 
in the world we live in today, sending an item to an unconfirmed paypal address is like sending it to a black hole... ;)
