Ebay Q: Sending to an unconfirmed address

Bad idea I think, I did the same as you and sent to an unconfirmed address (first time I had sold anything on ebay) Everything seemed fine and I even managed to transfer the money out my paypal account thank god. Couple of weeks later the payment gets reversed and my paypal account is at -£400. Nothing I can do about it either, can rest assured though paypal are getting squat from me.

My work address is verified/confirmed and I'm also pretty sure my home one will be too.
So it is possible to get more than one address verified/confirmed under EBay/Paypal.

Have they tried to recover the money from you in the meantime? I wonder what will happen with this...

I contacted them as soon as I had noticed the payment had been reversed, no response, tried again and guess what…no response.

Yesterday I received an email asking for me to restore my balance, I replied rather bluntly and told them in not so many words where to stick it. I sent them screen dumps of my previous emails and complaints and also an email from the guy who bought the item saying he had received it.

Paypal are a bunch of incompetents, the whole ebay/paypal thing needs a proper going over seems far to easy for people to get away with this sort of thing.

edit** Paypal are unable to make an unauthorised payment from my card, so all they can do is threaten court or pass my details onto a debt collecting agency.

With two policemen in the family and a lawyer I say bring it on.

If they take you to court, I think you have more evidence than them. You'd win, I'm sure...

that's if they can be bothered to actually get up from their manager's chairs and do some real work...

Did a bit of googling and found a load of other people that have been through the exact same thing. Apparently the best thing to do it just ignore them, it will cost them too much money to take me to court and there are so many ways around debt collectors.

i sold my old pc bits on there and i had to send ot to an unconfirmed address but i cleared out my paypal first just to be sure and i read payapl t&c's as long as you get it signed for at what ever address then you are covered so i sent it still got the paper work for it about 2 months on now just incase.

mm is safer but the mugs are on the bay who will pay over the odds,

where mm users are switched on and no how much its worth really.

I send to unconfirmed addresses all the time and I've never had a problem.

I always get proof of postage which will do me fine.
