I bought something on ebay yesterday and had this reply this morning

'Sorry this item is no longer for sale as it was sold before I could change the listing. I will return your payment via paypal immediately. Please confirm that your payment is received via paypal. Sorry for any incovience'

Great, I thought i had a bargain but now it seems i dont. Surely anyone could do this as they could just get an offer from someone for a slightly higher price and close the auction whenever they want?

Are sellers tied to selling you something when you win the item or not, if there a way i could still get a similar item off the seller (its a ticket for global gathering)

Anyone can do this, but it depends on how fussy you want to be. You could kick up a fuss, complain to eBay etc... so just accept the refund and leave positive feedback.

You can be sneaky and ask the seller to leave feedback first, and then you go and leave negative feedback ;)

Some **** did this to me before and made me suffer the £30 paypal charged him for the money transfer... Logged a complaint etc but this was a long time ago and I dont really remember what happened.

If the seller does a proper refund, but clicking the "Refund" link in his PayPal account... all fees are cancelled, and you get every single penny back. I guess he didn't do it this way :(

i assume it was BIN, he didn't have the right to do that, i'd kick up a fuss personally.

BIN? ive been and got tickets from town now anyway. £63 instead of 45 or 50 but at least i have them in hand. Could have got off the bay but at earliest i would have got them friday morning with special delivery, im going down friday night so getting them sat was no option. and the ones listed now are mostly due to end in over a day and around £50+ anyway
