Anyone know how to avoid being sniped by people who clearly don't have a life.

I have given my maximum bid then waited only to be beat by someone with 10 seconds to go each time.

Come on people get a life. I hope these people get the sack if they are doing it at work.

You don't like it when people know how to "play" an auction and get the best price for themselves?

This is why nobody bids on a 7 day auction until the last 24 hours. Bidding early just pushes up the final price, only idiots bid early.

isnt there a peice of software that bids for you with only seconds to go??

couldnt you use that?

Auctionsnipe of something i think?

If the "idiot" had put his final price earlier I wouldn't have even bid on it. There is the option to put your maximum bid in. I don't have time to sit in front of the PC refreshing the screen. I even put 10 quid more than the bid yet still get sniped. Strangely people don't even bid up but snipe me straight away which means they must know my maximum bid, is there software which allows you to see others maximum bids?

You can use snipe software if you're a girl (or away from the pc), but it's more fun to screw the other bidders in person. :)

Don't forget, ebay will only autobid to just above the current price. If they have a max of 20 and it's currently on 5, you could bid 10 and their autobid will push the price to 12.

Just be happy knowing you've made the winning bidder pay a bit more than they would have.

It really annoys me when people bid with days to go on an auction, what are they hoping to achieve?

I bid with 10 seconds to go with the maximum im willing to pay, if I dont win then I just move on.

I see an item with 2 days to go I put my maximum I'm willing to pay if I don't win then I just move on.

You guys are sad waiting around for the last 10 seconds.

I think stick to using my max bid if others are willing to pay more then I suppose it's fair.

Why get so annoyed over it all? They've outbid you. All fair and square.

Just bid the utter maximum you wish to pay, and be done. If someone is willing to pay more than you then you can't grumble, irrespective of when they bid.

Feel free to carry on losing auctions to people who know how to do it then.

I'll happily be sad if it means i keep money in my pocket.

The reason people bid right at the end, is to avoid getting into little bidding wars and the price going up and up slowly during the run of the auction.

It also means, if they don't win at the end with their single high snipe bid, then they don't have time to give into the temptation to try a higher bid and perhaps spend more than they originally wanted to.

exactly, you may be "sad" for bidding at the last second but atleast you get the item, unlike the op who is "cool", but doesn't get the item and then complains on a forum about it and seemed to be wound up about it.

if everyone bid early the price would most likely increase higher then it would have if everyone bid last few minutes as the tempation to pay more money if your not the highest bidder is there, e.g
item starts at £10, your highest £20, if you bid and 10 other people do and it goes up to £42, you obviously would not get this item, but if there is 2 days to go you might just tihnk screw it i pay the extra £24 if i can get the item, so you bid higher and it cost you £44 rather then the £20.

All I can say is HAHAHAHA.

I've used Auction Sniper plenty of times and won auctions. I've used it at work and at home...Nothing to stop you

a) Putting in a higher bid
b) Using a similar service
c) Getting a life

My dad was getting outbid the last second by someone all the time. They were clearly using a sniping program.
Dad got ****ed off and bid £3000 on an item worth about £60. The sniping program went one bid ahead which screwed the guy right over! ha ha

If you want something just put a higher bid on (say if item is £30 but a bid on of £60) then the next person will have to bid above £60 or you will win the item.

Dont be stingy and you will get it for a lower price

Let me get this right u have enter in the highest amount of money that you wish to pay so why does it matter if you get out bid 2 secs before the end or 2 days before ?

As you said u entered the highest amount you wanted to pay

Crap snipe program if it just tries to outbid the current winner, they normally just enter your max bid at the last moment, if you don't enter a high enough max bid, you don't win.

And if the item is at £30, entering a much higher max bid will just just mean the amount you end up paying will be much higher as other people try to be the winning bid.

If the item is at £30, let it sit there! Wait for somebody else to push the bidding to £40, then come in at the last moment with a max bid of £45.

Why don't people get this?
