eBay seller and his dodgy 4870 x2 listing...

The is card is faulty if it blue screens after driver install, seen this plenty of times.

Personally I never buy electronics from ebay. I limit my ebay use to collectables and posters. I managed to get a £70 (discontinued, very rare) Kotobukiya model for £20 on there. :) Just because someone named the listing wrong...

It's all good if you know what you're doing... But personally I don't trust that some people would be lying just to get money out of something totally dead. For all you know, someones posting a "graphics card" on there, but is actually going to send you a piece of card with a graphic printed on it >_>

Personally I have bought and sold quiet a lot. I got ripped off once and that taught me a BIG lesson.
Its a good place if you check feedback and know what you are looking for.
Dont know many other places so good for selling on my old mobile phones and fishing tackle!

If you buy something that isnt what was claimed in the sale it's pretty easy to get your money back through paypal.

As for this guy anyone who buys a graphics card from someone that says it blue screens is a moron :D

This peaked my interest,

Just FYI, it's "piqued", not "peaked".

(Trying to be helpful, not criticising).

er.. and to make this post relevant:

Yer Ebay sux0rs!

(but seriously, I've generally had a good experience with Ebay, but come pretty close to some arguements both as a buyer and seller before - I'm a lot more cautious with it now.)

Don't see what the big deal is to be honest - he's listing his experience with it, claims it could be faulty and therefore will sell for a knockdown price regardless of whether it actually works or not.

Would you sooner he list it as being in perfect condition even though it isn't and he knows it isn't?
The question is whether he genuinely knows if the card is broken. If he does, then he's being disingenuous by pretending it might work (like selling someone a ticket to a lottery that will never pay out).

Thanks, I stand corrected. I sell LOADS of stuff on eBay both through work (£10k ish per month, I don't see any of that :( ) and personally and have bought and sold lots of stuff with minimal fuss. eBay is great if you have your wits about you for sure, I have had a lot of bargains.

Recently bought a HP nc6220 laptop with freezing issues (seen this loads through work), had it fixed and sold in less than 2 hours from recieving and made a cool £120 profit. You get to know how genuine people word things...

People like him make me angry. Wonder if he's an OCUK member? :p

He's sold a 9800 GTX+, a 4870 x2 (a Sapphire too... Wonder if he fried this one trying to OC his Crossfire setup ) and a standard 4870 1GB in the last 3 months... The wording is SCAM, SCAM, SCAM lol

It runs fine, but BSOD's when installing drivers? No, it doesn't work lol.

A complicated process of uninstalling Nvidia drivers and then reinstalling ATI ones?

nerver would buy from their, might sell off old equipment on it, but I m honest if it don't work and can't be saved its called a recycling centre :D

It's quite easy to buy smart off the bay. Obviously some auctions are more risky than others...but if you are smart about it you won't get caught out. In the nearly 10 years I've dealt with ebay I've only had someone try to mess with me once, and I got all of my money back from paypal.

Selling, on the other hand, is a bit more risky. Always watch your back and be vigilant in keeping documentation/photos/serial numbers/postal receipts....as if it comes down to your word against the buyer then the buyer will win a dispute.

Luckily I've not had that happen but have been pretty careful about keeping documentation...

I've had loads of good eBay buys and sells. it's a great place for shifting old kit, games and stuff that is cluttering up my flat. I think I have only been messed around once, got my money back from PayPal. My rating is at 882, used it since 2001. My only complaint is the fees are too high for the quality of service you receive.

Never had any problems buying electronics from ebay. The only issues I have had have been with scammers trying to buy my goods without actually paying. So long as you perform adequate checks beforehand and pay via paypal you are safe.
