Hi,

I am becoming quite a regular seller on ebay now but for the 1st time Ive had a winning bidder with a rating of "0". The item they have purchased sold for £77. Im wary of the deal falling through or them trying to pull a fast one. Its not a major amount of money but is essential funding for my trekking holiday.

How easy is it for buyers to claim back their payments through paypal? Can I just decide to not sell to this person and choose the 2nd chance offer to the next bidder (with a better rating of 55)? I really cant be doing with any hassle see.

Cheers

CP

EDIT: FYI they havent paid me anything as yet

Yeah you can, they could file out at paypal and go through that investigation phase but if they send payment and you send the item, send it recorded delivery (I use this as standard) that way it provides evidence you sent it.

Id wait, someone bidded on my items a few times with 0 feedback and they paid twice what it was worth - I had the same worry but it was all good :)

Never let negative feedback rating people bid though.

I've had a fair few buyers with 0 feedback, and never had a problem with them at all. I'm not sure how easy a Paypal chargeback is to do, but I think you'd be quite unlucky for it to happen.

The only problems I've had are with a couple of non payers who had 20-30 feedback at 100% positive.

Providing you send it recorded delivery after they pay using a reputable method, there shouldn't be any problems. If it's something with a serial number or other identifying feature, it might be an idea to copy it down just in case they try something.

correct , no you can't

you have entered an agrrement to sell to this person and as long as he has not breached any conditions then that is what you must do

don't forget that Ebay / Paypal require ( for proof of delivery ) that the delivery is web trackable to postcode level , recorded and special delivery do not meet that criteria

What postal methods do meet their requirements? :confused:

AFAIK recorded and special delivery are acceptable to PayPal.

0 feedback buyers are in my experience often the best ones, they are often keen to do things right so they can get there first feedback point!

Still you have to be more careful, so withdraw the money from paypal immediatly, send it recorded deliver and if you can take a picture of the item in working condition with a newspaper or something else with the date on it besfore you send

Good luck

One of my items was bought by a Nigerian scammer recently. I had to wait a week to file an 'unpaid item' claim. Then I find out that I have to wait another week for them to respond. So far I have a final valuation fee of £30 and no chance to relist it for at least 7 days.
Thank you Mr Overseas scammer!

there has been a lot of discussion on the Ebay forums along the lines of proof of delivery being rejected in relation to RMRD and RMSD as proof need to be web trackable to postcode level

Did you set your options to only allow bidders from countries you would post to? Doesn't always stop them (theyjust reg as a uk member), but it's one more filter to keep the idckheads at bay.

Hmm

What are people there saying is acceptable then? I'm sure I've read that people have used RMRD/RMSD and PayPal have been happy with that in the past.

just did some research into this and it appears that paypal have seen sense and changed the wording

it now reads

The seller provides reasonable proof of postage from an independent shipper. The posted goods must be trackable online

in the past it said

The seller provides reasonable proof of postage from an independent shipper. The posted goods must be trackable online to postcode level

many people on the ebay community boards were having RMRD and RMSD proof rejected as the online tracking was just to town level

Protection Policies - Seller Protection Policy - Tracking Deliveries

What methods of online tracking are acceptable?

The following options may be used:

* Parcelforce Worldwide
* Royal Mail - Special Delivery
* Royal Mail - Recorded Signed For
* Royal Mail - International Signed For
* Royal Mail - Airsure
* UPS
* FedEx
* Airborne Express
* DHL

Note: Royal Mail does not officially provide online tracking (with proof of delivery) for the International Signed For service. In some instances however, delivery details may be available online. If these details map to the buyer's postal address shown on the Transaction Details page, PayPal may consider it as sufficient proof of delivery. However, since availability of delivery details cannot be predicted, sellers may not be able to rely on this method for proof of delivery in order to be covered by PayPal's Seller Protection Policy.
