eBay "Shake up"

I see they're reducing the initial listing fees and then whacking them on at the end when the listing finishes? Conning little swines!

Thing is with eBay they could be so much bigger and better if they actually invested in some proper customer service rather than this face-less automated email rubbish they spew out when you have an issue. It does feel like they couldn't give a monkeys when things go belly-up especially if you're the seller involved in the transaction.

How is this "conning"?
The overall cost will not change, however if you put something up to sell and it fails to sell the whole thing will cost you less.
If however it does sell then you'll end up paying the same amount of fees as you do now.
All they are doing is changing the way the payments are weighted from when you open the auction to when the auction finishes.
They are also being upfront about the charges - as they always have been. It's not as if they are hiding anything.

I don't know how many times you've been the "seller" when things have gone wrong.
However as long as you've done everything correctly - only sent to a verified address, used a trackable courier service then 9/10 EBay/Paypal will automatically side with the seller.

I am an ebay powerseller who does about 50 - 60 low priced items (£6 - £15 exc postage) a week and i have been stung more than a few times with all kinds of buyer complaints. I used to make a point of faxing the proof of postage with the Signed For slip and a print out that it had been signed for and won probably 1 - 15, so it wasn't worth the effort.

The paypal verified addresses are nice a idea but there is a very small portion of people actually have this so restricting yourself to those sales will seriously harm the trade you can do.
