I have been selling/buying items on eBay for what seems like an eternity now and have always been given great feed for packaging and speedy comms, however recently i sent a cymbal to someone and they've sent me a video clip showing the cymbal has been damaged on transit.

I was just wondering as i'm sure you all are fine, upstanding individuals, how would you go about resolving the situation? I'm a bit stumped as i've never had damaged goods in transit before.

Ah, so if the cymbal was bought for £67 with £10 P&P (£77 total), Royal Mail would only compensate me up to £28. So do i do it this way:

1.) Claim
2.) Receive compensation
3.) Ask buyer to send item back at his cost
4.) Reimburse him the total amount of £67
5.) Enjoy the defected cymbal £39 down (£67-£28) :)

Refund the dude fully, and claim from RM. As a seller myself, the buyer can never be blamed for DIT. :)

Sorry to tell you this but the buyer may not be happy about returning at his cost as it's nothing to do with him. You can only expect buyer to pay return postage if the item is unwanted. :(

I don't expect him to be happy about paying postage but from my experience with damaged/faulty goods i've had to fork out to send the item back. Just recently i had to cut a bike lock (because the key stopped working after 2 weeks!!!) that cost me £25 when the the bike cost me only £20, lol! That's irrelevant though, anyway i sent it back to the seller for £10 only to get replaced with another one that'll probably stop working. Sometimes i wonder.
