Right,

long story short I sold a RC truck for my brother on eBay and there was a delay of a week in sending the truck due to my brother being a fat lazy chav.

He sent it, and I have received this email:

Hi Jacob,

I have sent you a few emails about the Schumacher truck you sold me and the missing parts, bodyshell, radio crystals etc, etc, I’d appreciate it if you could get your brother to send all the parts he has either taken off, or not sent.

I purchased this in good faith from you and have been very patient, this is not a working truck in any shape or form and was for my son to get use to a nitro RC, which he can’t and he isn’t a happy lad right now because he doesn’t have a truck, just a chassis with wheels and things

I’d hate to have to start pestering you in other ways, but if necessary I will, I see you work in IT and like photography and also live in XXXXX need I go on…………

Please sort this out

Regards

Dave

to which I replied with

Hi Dave,

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having...and the missing parts.

I was unaware that the truck was sent with parts missing, please list for me what you have not received and I will make sure this is sent to you ASAP.

To my knowledge the truck does work, I believe in the original selling it was also said of a certain part that was needed? Maybe that was the other sale, I cannot remember, I will check this later – but as I have already said, please go through the original listing and tell me what has not been sent and I will personally make sure this is sent to you the early part of this week.

This is the exact reason 99% of the time I do not sell items on behalf of others, as you cannot trust anyone these days.

Threaten me all you like, do not forget, I still have your details as well. If this cannot be settled as the gentleman you certainly seem to be and take any physical action I will not hesitate to legally take the matter higher.

I appreciate how patient you have been and from a 3rd person point of view it would certainly seem I have messed you about, but do not forget I was relaying/pestering to my brother.

Bare with me whilst this is sorted over the weekend.

Many Thanks,

Jacob.

I'm curious, would you have sent the same response? :)

Mainly made this thread due to this being unnecessary stress which I could really do without :p

You did spot on to be honest, slap the chav brother and send the bits that are missing. :D

Unless of course the buyer is also a chav and is trying to blagg some free stuff because you are selling on behalf of another chav. In which case, you're buggered if the guy decides to get money back via PP due to the normally siding in favour of buyers.

I'd have probably said "bring it on you skanky manbitch"

I've had people threaten me on the internet like that before, never had a single problem in RL.

No because saying nonsensical stuff like "legally take the matter higher" shows you have no idea how to do such a thing effectively.

Ok I agree in principal, explain a better response as im sure that phrae "take things higher" is used a lot. What would be a better retort?

People like your brother really annoy me and shouldn't be let loose on eBay even if he is using your account. Sure you don't need me to tell you what a poor reflection the above is if things are missing etc.

As for your reply. He didn't threaten you, he merely confirmed your details by means of a bit of digging around on google. He never said he was going to do anything physical, you jumped to that conclusion and made yourself look a bit of an idiot :) If he thought that would make you get your **** into gear then I don't blame him for sending the email he did.

Totally agree with markyp23, who do you plan to "take the matter higher" too?

Poor chap. Can see why he's getting annoyed - you've basically not sent him what he paid for and are blaming your brother.

I can see why he is getting annoyed as well.

I didn't send the item, Brother or Mum or a member of the Ellwood family did and because I was working whilst it was sent I didn't/couldn't check it. So therefore I should get the flack?

err...na...

Yes it's my account, but I stated it was being sold on behalf of my Brother anyway.

The Police?

Who else would you take it to?

But he hasn't threatened you.... You seem to be missing the point. All the details he found are no doubt through google which you have disclosed yourself, it's your own fault.

Totally agree. You have a responsibility to get the item to the buyer which you haven't done. Can't you see why he is getting the hump? I'm sure you would do too, infact i'm pretty sure you'd create a thread about it :p

Why does this make a difference? The listing was created using YOUR account therefore you will suffer any repurcussions of this NOT your brother. This is why you never trust someone else to send something and a classic example of why the MM states you can only sell your own items - it avoids people passing the buck.

So the "I’d hate to have to start pestering you in other ways, but if necessary I will" isn't any form of threat to you?

It's not anybody's fault, it's posted on the package as the return address. He can also look through the items I've bought to see what I like to buy off eBay and make assumptions from there if he likes.

Yeah I know, and I did chase for the item to be posted. Which probably would have sat around for weeks if I didn't. How was I to know that not everything wasn't included? I'm never in :p
and yeah I probably would...but it's a dull Saturday night for a change :p

Of course you should be responsible for not checking! You are the one who sold the item, and if you didn't want that responsibility, you should have told your brother to make his own account, it's not exactly a difficult thing to do.

As a rule I DON"T trust people with this sort of thing, but this is the only exception I've ever had. Thank a nagging mother and whiney spoilt brother for that! :p

it's not exactly a difficult thing to do.

But he is very stupid :p

Have you never met a 16 year old who is out of it most of the time on drugs and can now barely read/write due to said drugs? :)

He also has the patience of a fat kid in a sweet shop with £100 in his pocket! :p

Yes, you should, and if you can't see this please let us know your ebay username so we can make sure we never buy a single thing from you.

There's an interesting thought...

If that's the case and you know he is like that you shouldn't have taken on the responsibility of selling something only to rely on your waster of a brother to do all the work.
Some genuine honest buyer is getting shafted because of a moment of stupidity on the part of you and your brother and it isn't fair on him. He has every right to be angry.

As you seem to have suggested, get the remaining parts sent out to him ASAP or give him a refund if you cannot do that.
