Ebola's back

This is why we have the NHS.

Does that comment make any sense here? I saw the word virus, I'm sure it'll work somehow.

Worry is the problem.

People worry, they get reckless, they endanger everyone around them and end up killing 99% of the population.

Sit your ass down and do as you are told, if such a thing occurs.

Fair do's, I know i'm severely contradicting myself in post 7 here, but this sentence did make me smile.

"On Monday Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni advised people to avoid shaking hands, casual sex and do-it-yourself burials to reduce the chance of contracting Ebola virus."

DIY burials! Do they spend bank holiday mondays grave digging and coffin building? I know what it mean's but the of phrase was great.

So you're saying that the NHS can cure the Ebola virus?

No, but at the very least we can rest assured that we have a health service to fall back on, a very very good one. In pandemics, keeping people calm is the main thing. The NHS may not be able to help with the virus itself, by it can certainly reduce the effects by raising awareness

I don't quite get what you mean by this?

If the WHO are there, the bodies will be burned to ash.

While they are infected they will be studied to see what strain it is and continue to research ways of defeating it.

Not so easy with it being one of the most virulent viruses in existence.

Though in general one must burn the body anyway even without a team of virologists there, though i imagine that hasn't been the case half the time.

Over 80% of India is Hindu. This is good as they cremate their dead anyway. Obviously they now have to do it a lot faster in some cases.

How can being aware of a virus reduce it's effects?

By reducing its infections through education on how it is spread and how to prevent it spreading.
