Hi there,

Getting a Kindle for Xmas, i love the idea of having, over a thousand books on a tiny device in my bag and i do like the look of them

BUT

I will miss the feel of real books, the touch and that feeling of intellectual superiority on the tube when reading a 1400 page book about the third Reich.
:P

What is your view?

As an avid reader with a massive library of dead trees (it's the cool, hippie thing to call them now) I can honestly say I don't miss the feel of a real book in my hands. The Kindle itself is such a fantastic device that it actually disappears in your hands leaving you to get on with the important reading instead of having to faff about with silly things.

It's also a major plus when reading a 1400 page book that it doesn't take up any extra space or get any heavier.

I had misgivings until I started my first ebook and have not looked back since. It’s brought back the pleasure of reading to me. After a couple of hours use it felt like an extension of my arm. I love my Kindle. The thought of having to take a mountainous pile of books with me on holiday pushed me over the edge and I ordered one last summer. I still buy the occasional hardback. Take the plunge, you won’t regret it.

There's only one thing I miss about books and that's being able to 'throw them around'. I like my Kindle pristine!

Besides, you get far more smug satisfaction pulling out your Kindle on the train, than trying to manhandle War and Peace.

The other plus side is that the hot girl opposite you doesn't know if you're reading Harry Potter or War and Peace.
