Hi,

I know that there are numerous threads on this forum dedicated to how rubbish Eclipse internet are and how great they once were, but I'd really like to pull all of the information that we can together about what exactly is going on with them right now.

It's especially important at the moment, because from what I understand, there seems to be a widespread connection speed issue that's a lot larger than they're trying to make out.

Looking at the status page in my Eclipse console, it says that the service is slow, and the status on this item is updated once every few days with a generic message saying that they are investigating the problem.

That would be fine, but I've now been billed £29.99 a month for three months of what must be around 56k speeds.

It's only started happening since April(ish), and I've noticed other people have been complaining of similar issues.

Exactly how many are suffering from this? How likely is it really that it's a line problem?

I'm in a 12-month contract with these people after 3 years of happy service when living with my mum. I'm now in my own place regretting doing that. Is there any way you're aware of that I can buy myself out of my contract? I've submitted a support ticket asking the same thing. I'll let you know what they say.

Either way, present day customers / very recent customers, I'd be very pleased to hear what you've got to say about the current state of affairs.

Thanks,

Karl.

Good news!

You can buy yourself out of their twelve month contract for a total fee of £40 - £10 more than I'm paying per month for the most dire service I've ever experienced. I'll take that!

No problems here. I've been with them for years.
However I'm still on an old Flex package - 512K with unlimited data :D. It's not worth it for me to upgrade to one of their faster packages, for a minimal increase in speed (1Mb) and restriction in data transfer.

I've had my problems since October last year and it gets worse every month! Lucky my contract ran out last month though and once my new router arrives this week I shall be looking into switching to an Entanet reseller which only have a 1 month contract and seem to be rated very highly :)

The only time I get full speed with Eclipse is between 3am-5am then it drops right back down to 30kb/s almost instantly. I just love the fact that they try to blame everything on me and tell me my phone line is bad quality, my router is faulty etc I then asked them if they care to explain to me why I get full speed at 3am and no other time and I get called a liar or as good as :D

It all went bad when Kingston bought them out which unfortunately was when I had just signed up :p

yes happened to me in april logged the problem with them they have said it was faults with BT openreach then BT wholesale so BT has sent out 4 bt engneers so far to date, to fix problem but not one of them have found any problems with my line what so ever. 2 of the engneers have told me that this could be a problem with eclipse own hardware cutting the speed of my line has all the line stat`s are still the same. after looking around the web forums found a few other eclipse users saying same thing. shame really used to be a good isp, oh well will move on next month. oh and they have stopped replying to my support tickets go figure that one.

Same here. I'm on ancient, one month contract, 2MBit business, 20:1, unlimited package @ 29.99. Uptime is near 100% and it's pretty smooth.

After what I've read about Eclipse on this forum, I dare not "upgrade"! :p

Rightly so.

An upgrade is effectively a downgrade, and I'm pleased to have found out that I can (and have) bought my contract out for the princely sum of £47.50 including VAT - 1 and a half months' hell. Easily quantifiable, done and dusted.

If you're having problems, this is probably the quickest and easiest solution. They'll give you a MAC code faster than they'll solve your connection problems which tells you a lot about their customer management, and I'm now joining Be*.

If you don't hear from me in this thread again (for people searching the forums in the fewch00r), it'll be because Be* have done the job of connecting me to a better connection speed and I'm too busy downloading lots of spangly things to reply. :p
