anyone here on Eclipse having their p2p strangled to death in the last 2 weeks?my dl have plummeted through the floor in the past fortnight.was wondering if it is just me or if they have really started to implement `traffic shaping` with a vengeance :(

Isn’t just you I’m afraid. They have really cracked down on all forms of “that sort of traffic” NNTP, P2P and torrents are all grinding to a halt. I’m lucky to get over 20Kb/s on anything. I’m migrating to Zen as we speak.

That would explain my lousy speeds recently then. Downloaded the latest OpenOffice last night at a crawl!

Will speak to my better half, and if we decide to stay in our current place in Feb I shall be finding an alternative provider...

They've been doing it for months now. Pretty much since MaxDSL went mainstream. A real shame the way they've turned out as only a year ago they were seen as one of the best ISPs out there :(

any comments good or bad? :)

UKFSN is an Entanet reseller and I heard Enta are having problems with some of their resellers at the moment. I don't know if the problem has been fixed (they were going to add more bandwidth) yet but otherwise any Entanet reseller are good.

More options: Be Broadband, Aquiss, ADSL24 etc.

And yeah, Eclipse used to be a really good company a few years back. It's a shame they started traffic shaping though. -_-

Enta aren't having problems with resllers but problems with BT not load balancing between their central connections properly.

See http://noc.enta.net for more details.

Migrated from Eclipse as the whole package was hopeless.

Speeds useless
Connection unreliable
Technical support rude and unhelpful
Customer services inefficient
Billing constantly wrong

Four months after migrating they are still sending me bills. I must have spent 3 or 4 hours on the phone trying to sort it out.

My advice is avoid at all costs or get out while you can.

iirc, the flex packages arn't throttled/shaped/etc but the adslMAX etc are

Flex is not supposed to be throttled, but believe me it is. Eclipse were good up to about six months ago but either deliberately or through incompetence they are very poor at the moment.

I must be 1 of the 10 people who would gladly recommend friends and family to avoid eclipse.

im on eclipse too .. well until sometime within the next 14 days and i migrate away from them.

the mail server still times out for me, billing has become erratic and,yes they have destroyed p2p downloads.

i think the thing that annoys me the most is, not only do they throttle on peak even if you are within your agreed limits , but also off peak.

so i have broadband, but im getting isdn speeds.

good riddance to them !

Yeah been going on for months, my mates got his MAC code as he said some days he can't get more than 6k a sec, what a joke, sounds like Tiscali that, no ones heard of em buying Eclipse ave they. :p

No, but funnily enough they started using Tiscali LLU a few months back...

That's about a months worth of traffic, about the only thing Eclipse is good for at the moment, if the Giganews stream went I'd have to find a new ISP.

How are you running them speeds on eclipse's newsgroup I thought it was limited to 2 connections?
