hello my first post so please dont shout at me

i have been looking at a ecs board KN1 SLI Extreme this board as features i have never heard of before i am hoping to upgrade within a few weeks and am looking for a decent board and cpu that will enable me to be a little future proof (at least 18 months ) and be able to play games and do the occasiona encode

so any advice would be great

thank u 4 your time

ECS are budget and midrange with signficant manufacturing for OEM's also.

For budget they tend to be average performers but reliable and cheap with adeauate support

midrange (like the extreme) are excellent value and theres usually some enthisiat support.

future proofing is allways a problem

go for it. Another EXCELLENT budget manufacturer of mobos is ASRock.
Let the other numptys chuck there cash away on dfi etc (ducks for cover).

Doosht

Are you going to be overclocking etc.?

Using any existing components you may have?

Hi

Been running the KN1 Extreme NForce Ultra version for a while ... rock solid with no problems .. actually quite a good feature rich board probably not as overclockable as others but by no means as cheap & cheerfull as they have tended to be ... the standards are rising & the parent company is actually very popular in Asia

doosht - saying that wont justify the fact that you bought a asrock dual sata2? :D

i personally would buy something by a more established manufacturer - if just for a decent warrenty and bios support

Haa am currently running an ECS mobo because my Abit 120 quid one went **** up.!!
This one is running an overclocked 3700 @ 2.75 no probs at all. just as good as any other board I have ever had.
Dont let other people influence you to get an board that costs 10 times as much for the same stuff.Basically boards are all much the same these days.

Ive been using ecs Nforce-a939 for a couple of months now . no BSOD or any other problems .Running a reasonable Overclock of 275 ht . its not sli though .

Picked up the same board on that auction site for 30 quid! Seems an alright board with plenty of overclocking option, vcore goes up to 1.7v, vdimm 3.1v, more than my MSI..

yes it a good board if your not looking to go beyond 275 ht in my experience . couldnt get mine beyond that and stable no matter what i tried re voltage / ratios / and so on . using the onboard raid also . as a stripe gave quite a boost to my preious un raided set up on this mobo.
