Eczema, how I hate thee!

My eczema recently decided to rear it's ugly head, no doubt on account of the glorious weather of late. Granted, it's not nearly as bad as some poor buggers out there, but it tends to get me down. Whilst others are stripping off, I can't help but feel inclined to cover up. I loathe the red patches on my forearms! Fortunately I have some steroid cream on order which usually vanquishes said patches, albeit temporarily.

Is anyone here currently sharing my pain, or am I alone in this world of aqueous cream and E45? :(

Have a mild case of it, luckily just patches of very dry skin on my thighs and right hand flank. Never had medical attention to it, don't moisturise either so begging it to go away would be rich :D

Be careful with steroid creams. They thin the skin. I know as my skin is paper thin in places. I need to take immune suppressant tablets to keep my eczema under control and moistuising oinment that ruins clothes (E45 would be as much use as swadust) Yeah I got it bad. :)

Took me years to learn to live with how horrible it makes me feel. Now I just go out in shorts and a T-shirt. I try not to let it bother me.

Bain of my life. Had a bad breakout last week as well :(

Hot weather, specifically humidity isn't good for eczema sufferers.

The eczema on my face has all but disappeared in the sun, but everywhere else it's not changed and my skin is still constantly itching and driving me mental. You'd think that after so many years of constant itching I'd be used to it, but no, it's absolute agony.

Had it terrible when I was a kid, bandaged head to toe and tearing lumps out of myself so I can sympathise with you on how hateful it is. Thankfully I rarely suffer from it any more, maybe a bit when I move into the colder weather and go from short sleeves to long sleeves, generally only get it a bit on the inside of one arm. I put a compression bandage on it and it usually goes within a few days.

I'm sure folks that have never suffered from a skin disorder wonder how it gets so itchy that you're not content scratching it even when the blood is running out of you. Horrible thing to have.

Edit: I would also use diprobase after washing/showering now, find it works well.

I've had eczema and Nodular Prurigo so severely since I was a teen, my last bad bout had me out of work for 3-4 years, forcing my gf to become my carer. It affected my hair growth on my scalp, face and well um other areas.

It can affect your social life in so many ways, to the point now my friends circle is in the single digits and some of them being ex guildies I've never even met.

The last 18 months I've had progress with vicious regiments of immunosuppresants, which had everything from loss of appetite, to days of not keeping anything down. I've been clear since March (touch wood) and trying to get back into the workplace or even get a career whilst I can.

The sun can be a pain, as you need creams/ointments to make things better but they can also lock in heat which is a pain in the...well, derma.

Anyways not being a "i had it worse" type of post, what I'm trying to say is even when your feeling low with it all, there can and WILL be good days, try your best to enjoy them and don't give a donkey's left ear of what others think.

There is a great book that aided my mentality to it all called "The Eczema Solution" which can be found on the rainforest, worth a read.

Your not alone, while im lucky to have it only on the back of my calfs and a little bit on my thighs so the hair kinda covers it, due to the nature of where it is, its soooo itchy in this weather, drives me insane - nice cold shower at the end of the day is sooooooo good lol.

I use oilatum, you can buy it from chemists. I get eczema on my face and legs, and it works a treat :)

I make my own liquid concoction of dyslexic panda bear eyes, tears of an orphaned sloth and bat blood all cooked in the blow hole of a homosexual dolphin that died of a broken heart.

I've never had eczema. Until in my 30s. I use Doublebase cream, I was using Fucibet, but I lost the tube. I keep a small tube of cream with me in case I get itchy.

I used to get it when I was younger (although I still have it I don't get too much trouble) but I always found swimming in the sea helped no end.

I feel sorry for anyone with this... I can still remember it used to nearly drive me insane at it's worst point and that was before all these fancy creams became available.

Have the ****** in my scalp. Have to put a topical steroid in my hair when it gets unbearable. Looks like bad dandruff if I don't use the steroid. Use it as little as possible.

I think it's one class from the highest.

Took me many visits to the gp to get this stuff. One retard prescribedme cream for it. The doctor after that said he was an idiot!

Horrible thing it is.

Sebborrhoeic dermatitis

Edit. It's the strongest class of steroid

I haven't had a major outbreak for years but this weather usually brings out patches on my left hand. Unfortunately I spilt some 2 stroke oil on my hand last week and I didn't have gloves on. That has irritated the skin and made it a bit worse than usual but it hasn't cracked so far.

I only ever suffer nasty outbreaks on my fingers and left foot so I feel for anyone who gets it in large ares or sensitive places.

I get it very mildly on my elbows sometimes but I find taking 10,000IU Vit D3 and a couple of grams of fish oils a day quite effective at keeping it at bay.
Won't be much use for those of you who really suffer but might help those who only suffer mildly like me.

Used to use Betnovate-C when I was a teen. Used to get bad excema on elbow joins inside and out, knee joints and on my wrists too.

used to wipe the cream off on mums towels haha when they went in the wash they came out with bleached patches all over them haha
