Ive got an Asus P5K Deluxe Mobo and I've just had a Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme IHS and a Scythe S-Flex 1600rpm fan.

I've lapped the IHS because it was concave and now its all shiny and flat..

I have a Lian Li PC7 case with 120 standard issue case fan at the back and the same Scythe fan as on my IHS in the front blowing in.

My temps are 50oC Idle and 63oC-65oC under load.

Cables are all tidy and cable tied for maximum airflow so I dont think thats an issue.

I have it overclocked to 3.2GHZ as well but the temps are the same even if I run it at stock which I cant understand.

I feel like smashing it up as its really starting to get on my nerves now... Can anyone give me any info on what more I can do to get the temps lower??

Thanks Guys

i don't think you guys are focusing on the question

If you're not increasing Vcore, temps don't usually change by more than a couple of degrees as you increase clock speed.

That was a statement, not the question. He wanted to know how to lower the temps which aren't high in the first place.

What voltage are you using?

Some people are having good luck with dropping the vcore once they reach a stable OC. Its helping with a few deg temp drops. Worth a try maybe? Its something I always try and do.

I should have mine tommorow, should be interesting as its going into a mATX setup with one 120mm exhaust fan :D

I have the volts at 1.3875v

Showing in Cpu-Z as 1.352-1.360

If I go lower that the machine crashes after a few minutes of usage..

Thanks Guys

have you optimised your current cooling.
considered lapping the cpu and hsf?
is your thermal grease too thick?
is it making good contact with the cpu?

To be honest I didnt really want to start getting into the water cooling side of it....

what would the temps be roughly on a [email protected] with that sort of setup?

Thanks
Sorry i don't know what the temps with a quad core would be,,,as am only using a E6600 dual core with my D-tek waterblock myself...

Ive got 2 x 120mm case fan.. 2 Scythe S-Flexs and a Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme IHS?

How much better cooling can I get apart from Water???

why are you obsessing about those temps?

They are fine.

Now stop winging and start enjoying your pc FFS :)

Agreed ... you did know that when you purchased a quad core the temps would be a tad high - stop comparing them to core 2 duo temps and if stable start using the pc for what you built it for.
