I will echo this, really surprised at how good the sound quality was, think I shall be getting one for the TV in the lounge. :)

Being as you have quite an extensive range of the Edifier stuff now...
.....is there any chance you could do some set ups, and do an OCuk video, such that it showcases to us mortals the audio potential options, and sound/quality differences of your stocked range?...... Please :)

We could but one cannot put across sound quality in a video. All a video could should would really be sizes of the setups etc.

It is always the hardest part with buying speakers or headphones, no matter how good they might be everyone perceives audio different.

Example I listed to the B3 sound bar, my only complain was I would like more bass, making the B7 perfect for me as it comes with a subwoofer. Yet my colleague thought the B3 had a little too much bass. Which is proof that people perceive sound different as we were both stood next to each other watching the same movie.

I totally understand where you are coming from Gibbo.....but my thoughts were that something may be better than nothing to help us mortals understand some of the benefits to be had over one product v another.
I appreciate it wont necessarily help the the real audio connoisseurs, or those with particular defined hearing preferences.

Anyway...just thought I would send out an idea to challenge you. :D

A range video may be an option but it won't include any sound samples. It's an intense annoyance for me just how many people think that they can "review" or "demo" audio equipment on YouTube when, no matter how good the source and may be, the audio is affected by the recording equipment, the encoding and then the viewers own audio set up. The result therefore bears no resemblance at all to the original.

The B3 soundbar seemed to be pretty good in the office but I'll be giving it a more intensive workout at home tonight.

Got my eye on the R1280T 2.0 - are they good for the money? All I'd be doing is gaming, listening to music and watching films/TV.

I wonder how good AC/DC - Thunderstruck would sound! :)

It sounds fantastic! I bought a set of these last year on a whim for the exact same reasons that you're looking at buying them for and they're really good value for money - very impressed with mine

Considering how terrible the built-in speakers on my monitor are and the fact that my Kingston HyperX headphones are falling apart (after a little over 1 year >:c), I'd be up for grabbing one of these. Just two problems... choice and cost (the latter is only an issue since I'm jobless :c). There's too many to choose from! I'd be looking at 2.1 speakers or soundbar, which would narrow it down, but they need to be able to outperform my fairly pricey Audio Technica headphones (used to be my portable, but now a backup for when the HyperX kicks the bucket).

The B3 soundbar seems perfect, but alas I'm in no position to grab one. Plus there's a nuch of other hardware releasing (or expecting too) this year that I need to save for... *hint* *hint*

Wow the range has expanded a lot.. I used to be interested in the old book case style ones but that 2.1 system with remote also has my interest..

Coming from a.. 7 year old logitech 5.1 system would I see an improvement or worse results? I don't use the 5.1 for true 5.1 iv just got 5 speakers spread over my desk and it sounds like a wall of sound

The B3 Soundbar had a solid evening use. I can honestly say that it's worth the money and more.

The sound depth was very impressive and it did a decent job of filling the space. I found that the 3D feature definitely improved the surround sound feel but it did drown out the dialogue a bit.

For living room usage a similar priced 5.1 cinema would give better positional capability but, I would suggest, not as good sound quality. It's no competition for my existing 5.1 set up, however it's not a fair test so I wasn't expecting it to be.

Those who want room shaking, thunderous bass should look at the B7, but that doesn't mean that, for most, the B3 will be lacking in that department. Quite the opposite in fact, I found myself wanting for a bass control. I was having to sacrifice overall volume because the bass was impressively powerful for such small drivers.

In short, a very impressive sounding product especially considering the price.

If you aren't using 5.1 for positional audio or ground shaking bass then a pair of Edifier satellites will dramatically improve the sound quality. That said, the chances are that your Logitech kit was made by Edifier so they wouldn't be too shabby.

Thanks Scott, it's the x530 system iv got right now. The days of using it for real 5.1 are long gone as iv been demoted to a tiny box room by the Mrs. I'm sure a 2.1 setup would do me well and bass wise iv got my current kits subwoofer turned down via my mobo sound settings

Hi,

I'm currently testing the B3 sound bar and have done a few videos but as Scotti B said the videos do not do it any justice as the iphone recording quality is not the best. This is just a personal experience test from what I would use the speaker for and tried to get it across in a video.
