I Still do not know,

I will when the boss is back see if I can book a pair out for a weekend.

I have 1600's at home so easy test.

If they are markedly better than the old version then I can see me getting a pair of either the 1600T or the 1800T, though I do wish the 1600T still came in black ash.

Hmmm...

I want the side controls of the 1600, but the black body of the 1800. My desktop set-up is black/silver, the wood effect of the 1600 would ruin that. I really do prefer the side controls though.

How often are you going to change the controls though? I see no problem with them at the back as you're only really going to fiddle with them once. For me any more fiddling would be for just faffing around and that would probably be unlikely if they're at the back :p

Got them on the side of my older model 1600T's and I've adjusted them no more than three or four times in the couple of years I've had them.

I change the volume with my sound card's software, it becomes second nature after a while.

Not to mention the 1800T comes with a remote anyway.

Take my Microlab Solo7C for example...it has control on the side but I have not used them AT ALL (not even once!), since I have a remote.

The new 1600T has a remote too, so that won't need any physical tweakage either.

I think the physical volume knob is the master volume, which you set to the loudest you will ever want and then you dial it up and down between your set limit and zero with the remote - at least that's the only way I can think of it working. :D

I really like the look of the 1280T which will by no means be an upgrade from the 1600 T you have but looks wise they look fantastic.

What I find for my 1600T is that it must be positioned with a good amount of rear clearance for it to sound good due to its port position at the rear, so may be for the 1280T's front port design would at least be a improvement over the 1600T and require less rear clearance in this regard.

But yea even with that considered, the 1280T is most likely by not mean a worthwhile upgrade from the 1600T I think.

It does look nice I must admit.

The one I would love is the R2730DB which is a bit of a monster.
3/4" dome tweeter, 4" mid range and 6.5" woofer and with 136W I would think it could upset quite a few neighbours :D

I just googled the R2730DB...it does look like a seriously business by the spec, but I'm not too sure about the look...as I generally don't use the grill, and without it the grill the speakers looks like Frankenstein :D
