Whats there to see and do peeps?
Heading up tomorrow till sat with the other half, she's working thursday and friday so I need to entertain myself.

Edinburgh

LOTS to see, the Castle, the old 'under the city' streets, some good shops, whisky heritage centre, the camera obscura (all within easy access).

Title ammended.

It's a beautiful city with a LOT of history. I'm sure a local will advise, I've been there 1/2 a dozen times and loved it every time :)

If you like ghost tours then there are a dozen to choose from.

3 or 4 Michelin level restaurants (Number One at the Balmoral for instance)

Climb Arthurs Seat, stopping at the 2 swan ponds on the way up.

Climb Blackford Hill to the Observatory. Perhaps stop at the swan and bird pond at the bottom.

The shopping on Princes Street might be good for you?

Princes Street Gardens is quite pleasant if its not wet (and if the mugger who tried it on with my girlfriend isn't around)

Didn't think I had spelled it correctly lol
Cheers for the tips, though I wont mention the good shopping to th gf or i'll get dragged down there, and there is nothing I despise more than shopping :p

oo interesting as im heading up at the end of the month for my birthday with the misses. We are staying in a fairly nice hotel by the looks of things too :D

Cant wait it should be awesome! Shes planning like a treasure map birthday hunt thing for me. The jackpot better be teh whiskey place though :D

The Royal Mile also has a castle at the top, ice cream at the bottom, and the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace at the bottom. Go past the Palace and you get Holyrood Park which Arthurs Seat is in.

You could also stop by the Cowgate for some alcohol, though if you're a little more refined you may prefer Rose Street (old school pubs) or George Street (expensive places + Witherspoons)

I took one of the ghost tours and also a tour 'round the castle. Both were very good, but the ghost tour guide was Aussie and the castle guide was a Northerner. Can they not get Scottish people to do them??

If its a nice day just go sit in princess street gardens for a while, grab an ice cream and jsut relax

main places for bars/clubs etc are rose street/george street and grassmarket, avoid the east end of princess street as its the "pink triangle", ie gay bars.

not really sure what else your into so cant really comment anymore!
