ok so what i am currently doing for a bit of fun is messing around with virtual instances of all types of software from Ubuntu server to the standard windows 7 etc.
I already have a 8 core with 16mb of cache and 16GB of ram and a descent motherboard and a good power supply to run my virtual instances.
so what i hope by the end of the project i will have my main OS windows 7 which will host Vmware i am using the free version however i may upgrade to the paid version for free,if my uni has it, or buying it my self.
well anyway i hope to have all sorts going on from a website and a storage server and mail servers as well as my windows. this was just a project i was doing for my self but what can i say my friends at uni heard of what i was doing and now they want a piece which resulted me in really quickly setting up a ftp server and a ddns solution and doing all the port forwarding and firewall fun. so the next request they are asking is for me to provide some windows operating systems which i can get for free through uni again and then they can use their existing windows accounts to sync their one drive and google drive etc however if i they want i may just use Ubuntu in particular and link data under Linux however that wont be the first option as i am setting it up for the purpose for downloading tools like packet tracer for instance etc and other things that run best under windows and use it remotely so just on our laptops we will use team view or link google accounts and then do chrome remote so that we can all just have our processing problems else ware. and then if i get really lucky they may host the server at my uni so i will get their internet their power and i can link further things such as printers. i will also be working on setting up a vpn or something just for security sake as i do use a vpn but seeing as the connections to this hosting server is coming from more than 6 people from different locations i will need to find some application that i will download as the main link from the hosting operating through which hopefully through the vmaware settings the vpn application network traffic will flow through it meaning everything through that connection is encrypted on the vpn service link.

well that was more of just my thoughts in my head which went of topic but anyway i am not a studying english so the question is how would people go around preventing certain things done on windows so for instance i dont want the guys playing games i mean i am shoving a old 7970 into the rig to but i dont want that used for gaming unless its me lol, so does any one have any idea how to restrict applications and not allow the programs to run?
