EE broadband charges

When BT switched me to EE broadband, nearly two years ago, I foolishly and naively agreed to accept a new £77 per month contract.
EE now saying that that was the going rate at that time and charges have plummeted since then.
Can anyone confirm that ? Is there a way to find the true rates at that time ?
Thanks.

When I signed up for the 1.6 package in August 2024 the price was £80, which at the time was cheaper than what I was paying BT. Price is now considerably cheaper and they are now taking the mick by putting my price up again. About the same time mother in law moved from BT to EE and they are paying over £100 a month for 900mbps, phone and an extender that doesn't work and wont ever work as even at the furthest point you can get from the router its still too close

Thanks for that info, Bumhug. Puts things in perspective for me.
I thought it was just me getting ripped off ! They have already said my direct debit is going up. I'm off to another provider.
Cheers.

The only thing that's relevant is what you agreed to, £77 sounds excessive but we have no idea what it included (phone calls, TV, Xbox Live etc.)

Nothing but broadband. I gave up the BT landline as my bill was approaching £100 pm ! No TV, mobiles or Xbox etc.

EE have said that my charge of £77.80 pm for 18 months is based on the rate of two years ago, and the cost for broadband has plummeted since. They intend , however, to increase my direct debit on renewal of my contract. ???

I was moved from BT to EE in August 2024, price was £44.99 for 900Mbps basic package, no extras, going up to £47.99 year 1 and then £51.99 this year.
I asked for a better deal a couple of weeks ago but the best they offered me was £47.99 for same package with no increase until 2027.

I started the migration to Sky, they were buying out the rest of the contract.

The next day I got a call from EE retentions and it ended up £31.99 for 900Mbps with no increase until 2027, so went with that and the Sky migration got cancelled.

I had to start the move to another provider before this offer was available.

Mis-selling would be if the supplier had not been truthful with you at the time of sale, not provided what the contract said etc. What you have is buyers remorse because you missed that £77 in 2024 was a lot for an internet connection and didn't use your 14 day cooling off period to have a think about it. I can't see how you get anywhere with Ofcom.

£77 was the cost for 900mbit with the Apple TV 4K and BT Sport etc. so not just broadband, either you are being less than honest with us or you aren't reading your bill, a bit like you seemingly didn't read your contract.

£77 per month for plain ol' broadband is daylight robbery. Foolish indeed. Study your contract in future; always make sure you have fully read and understood something before signing it.

Yes, of course I have buyer's remorse. It's not a legal issue , it's more a moral one

There's your first mistake in thinking that ISPs have morals. You can find countless stories online of people who've been put on broadband packages with extras they clearly do not need and are charged a premium for them.

I'm sorry but my contract was for broadband ONLY.
Have you read my bill ? Have never asked to have or used Apple TV.
I agreed over the phone to subscribe only to the broadband service.
How are you able to tell me otherwise ?
I did have BT sport years before but that was cancelled years before too.

It is a bit perplexing, I've never seen any of the mainstream ISPs quote that much for broadband alone.

If you really did have only broadband it wasn't just a bad price, it was a spectacularly bad price. But maybe if you were on some BT legacy deal and they've just kept jacking the price up it is possible.
