EE broadband charges

That was why I posted on here in the first place, and why I am still waiting for a reasonable answer from EE and/or BT.
If my contract was at the going rate two years ago and the price of Broadband has plummeted (their own words), shouldn't my new contract be based on today's going rate and not be raised. Perplexing, as you say !

Because it exactly matches the historic price for those services during the period you describe, nothing else does. Also, surely you can see the irony in asking me if i've read your bill, when clearly that's not your forte.

Made the jump to Sky today. I first looked at it on Monday, got an email from EE as I was going through the motions to see how much it was to say my contract ends 18th October and will be a £268 early termination fee which put me off somewhat. But found out Sky will pay up to £200 to transfer so decided 2.5Gbps for £35 would save a fair chunk of cash a month so went through with the move. My EE payment went out yesterday so as I was going through the process got an email saying early termination would cost me £218, then after it all went through got another email saying they are sorry to see me go and early termination fee was £168. Bit shady I think to lie about the figure before you go through with the move

Next up will be moving mother in law, who is paying £110 a month for 900Mbps along with several extenders that they keep conning her into getting, none of which work as its a small house and they say the extender is too close no matter where you put it.

One of my work colleagues who lives on same road is paying £35 for 150Mbps which was the best black Friday deal he could find 18 months ago, he is a bit miffed as he is also with Sky, crazy how prices have dropped past couple of years

My EE contract finishes in a couple of weeks and I'm off to plusnet for a fraction of the cost.
 
Once you start the switch, EE retentions will probably contact you, the current offer is 900Mbps - £25.99/month for 24 Months (Increased by £4 every April)

I have just moved well two weeks ago, I don't think it's shady about the contract fee, the reason it was £218 could be that is how much it would be if your activation with Sky was on that day, £168 would be the actual Sky activation day a week or so later, mine took a week so it was a bit lower than the first leaving fee.
 
Seems EE’s sales plan is lure people in on a good deal initially, try and upsell extras and then come renewal be uncompetitive.

Seen a couple of people have renewal offers for 1.6Gbps in the mid to late £50’s.
 
EE are known for mis-selling. It happened to me over a phone contract where they signed me up for a new, additional contract instead of an upgrade. They then refused to do anything about it, telling me I had to go back to the shop to sort it. Was on holiday at the time, so this was impossible. Ringing the shop, I was told to ring EE. EE said to call the shop and we went around and around.

I can well believe that EE are charging £77/month for just broadband. I'm currently paying £85.99/month for 900Mbps FTTP. No Apple TV, no TNT Sport, nothing else.

Like the OP I moved from BT to EE. In the end I did it to stop the phone calls from them and stupidly didn't realise that'd trigger a new 2 year contact. That contract ends in about a month.

My home broadband is expensed so my broadband doesn't end up costing me all that much but it is bonkers that it's currently costing as much as it is.

Please provide proof. Speed capping hasn't been a thing in many years, localised over subscription/capacity issues, yes, limited peering, potentially, but ISP side throttling? No major fixed line ISP has done so as a general policy in at least a decade. Mobile however does indeed have l,.imitations, Three for example recently decided to limit it's maximum speeds and copped flak for it, Starlink does similar for obvious reasons, but neither of those are fixed line.

Sometime ago, I had a conversation with a friend who works at BT and he talked a bit about the things they get up to, but
other than that..
