Just been into EE to look at a new S8+, normally I buy my phones outright sim free and keep my existing plan as its a Tmobile plan I have had for years which has Unlimited Data and has served me well for £19 a month.

However while in there the sales person stated that at the end of this year my phone would be cut off, as EE is shutting down all Orange and Tmobile plans and either asking people to select new plans or shutting down their accounts.

I have not heard of this, or had any notification?

Anyone heard of this?

They've been telling people this for years - doesn't seem to be happening any time soon except for stopping uptake of new customers.

I haven't heard about this. I moved to EE about 6-8 weeks ago. My T-mobile was 3g and only had 300 mins and 3gb data but I found out it was unlimited (fair usage) as more recently I've been totting up around 5-6 gb average/month.

ignore it untill forced.
people said and jumped far to early when three did similar, while the ones of us who waited not only got over a year extra on old contract, by the time we were forced they had up their data polices anyway.
So yeah if you like and are happy with your contract ignore everyone till they force you.

Thanks guys, seem to have been a scare tactic to try and get me to upgrade me plan.... EE stated there is no set date yet.

Yeah as above they've been telling people that since 2013 but the only change is they aren't taking new customers on those plans - it will happen eventually though.

Interesting thread.

My previous contract (2015) was EE but still had the Orange (and EE) branding in the letterhead. I realised that I also had some old Orange bolt-ons which carried over into the new contract, so I cancelled those.

I've upgraded to my latest handset just now in 2017 and this is the first contract for me that is solely EE-branded.

I've started to consider moving away, same package all unlimited for £19 a month (started off at £16 54 months ago) but it's limited to 3g. I currently tether a couple of tablets when out and about, EE are offering 20gb packages which I can get for £19/mo and be on 4g but I don't want to drop the tethering.

So how do you get put onto EE directly? I left EE late on last year but recently joined back and have noticed that I'm contracted to T-Mobile rather than EE themselves. I'm SIM only but no idea if that makes any difference or not.
