I first noticed this when my glovebox locked itself the other day and my key wont open it, didnt find it too suspicious really i assume the lock has slipped or something. Then today, well just now really, i come out of a shop and go to blip the car......nothing, check the remote all is well so i assume maybe the battery has gone or similar so i go to open it manually, key wont turn. Go to passenger side, try, key wont turn, try the boot in desperation and yep wont turn, so i sit down and think logically. I settle on the main central locking issue being a bad connection on the battery or some other wiring so i 'bounce' it and sure as sugar it blips fine and i go home (after popping the hood and checking the battery connectors). I try the manual lock again to see if it was some sort of no power lockout and the key wont turn. I cant see why this would be, i assume maybe peugoet replaced the ignition barrel and key and reprogrammed the alarm at some point and never bothered with the cars other locks. This sound about right to anyone?

Prehaps the key has worn down and the ignition still accepts it as thats a bit worn too but the other locks are like brand new as you have no need to use them as you have a key fob thingy, maybe?

How many keys, do you have any spares? do the others work? I got 3 with my 306.

Will the key turn at all? can you hold it there to undo the deadlock?

Does sound like the ignition barrel may have been changed and alarm recoded on the cheap.... Just hope your remote locking doesn't fail.

Don't think its anything to do with your problem but this is how the deadlocks activate on a 306.

You know you have 2 buttons on the remote? The big one locks the doors, and the little one (if pressed just after) activates the deadlocks.

When using the key in the door (assuming you could), deadlocks are activated by holding the key turned for a few seconds after turning it.

Deadlocks mean that even if people manage to unlock your car illegaly they cannot get in. Good if you have a psycho in your car, you can properly lock them in (assuming your rear windows are electric) N.B ( i have never had a psycho in my car :))

What year did this come in on the 306? It works on my mates T reg LX but not my S reg D Turbo.
