Hi Guys,

Sig: C2D 6300, DS3, 1900XT, Geil 2GB, 500W PSU.

Just transfered all my hardware into my new Akasa Eclipse 62. I've added a few things, another HDD, a fan controller, a card reader, a SATA DVD-RW and a few new fans. I'm powering up but it's not posting. The monitor stays in stand by and says that a signal from the PC is not being detected.

I noticed when i powered up in my old case the Graphics Card fan would spin up at full speed and then quiten down when it posted. This time it's spinning up and staying at full speed.

I've tried clearing the CMOS, unplugging all new hardware so that only CPU, Graphics Card and memory are left in and swapping the DVI port but it's not had an effect.

Any ideas? I'm desperate to fix this asap!

TIA

Nope don't have another PCI-E Card and pretty much no one i know has either! :(

CPU is definitely set ok as i didn't re-seat it. I literally swapped the fan in the heatsink (Tuniq Tower) and re-attached it.

Yep, made sure of that as i made that mistake when i first built it. I'll double check that it's plugged in correctly and let you know. Might even try the other 4 pin adapter from my PSU. Just removed the memory to see if i got any beeps and it's not made a difference... :(

No the HDD light does not flash, The Fan Controller comes on, the DVD-RW has power as does the card reader. The power LED doesn't flash either.

I have literally changed the case and nothing else. There are a few other things connected to the motherboard like the front USB connections. I'm gonna have to try and rebuild i guess, just hope nothing has been damaged. I'm usually very careful about shorting and touch the radiator every now and again. Just cannot understand what could've happened! Very frustrating

Well i've just re-built outside of the case and it's posting! Hurrah! I've plugged the CPU fan straight into the motherboard instead of into the controller also. Not entirely sure what could be causing it. I'll try and re-build inside the case tonight if i have time but it will probably be tomorrow.

I'm going to swap the fan in my tuniq this weekend, you've spooked me now.

Tried clearing the CMOS? Also, put the old fan back and try to boot. I heard a possible boot issue if the mobo didn't detect a suitable fan plugged in to the CPU socket then it wouldn't boot to save the CPU from heat damage...

You should be able to run the Tuniq without a fan altogether though right? It's just probably not a very good idea ;)

Yeah at least i'm getting it to post. The last thing i wanted was to fork out some more cash for new parts after spending so much money on it. I'll just have to take it really slowly when i get it back into the case.

Ok, it works when i fire it up not connected to the motherboard tray so i'm guessing there's a problem there.....

But the CPU Fan is plugged in there for the time being. It works when it's set up on the cardboard but not when it's attached to the tray outside of the case, any ideas?

Yep. Should i using washers anywhere? Never had to use them before but noticed there's quite a few that come with the case.

This is very strange... It definitely works outside of the motherboard tray, all standoffs are correctly scewed into place and i've tried a variety of different screws with and without washers. It's doing my head in, what on earth is going on?

I don't believe it....turns out the screws attaching my Tuniq Tower to the backplate were touching the motherboard tray (i think) and causing it to short. This was caused by using the standoffs provided with the case which are ever so slightly shorter than the ones i was previously using.

I feel so frustrated at spending a whole day tearing my hair out over what turns out to be less than a mm in height.

But it's fixed nonetheless, thanks for all the advice guys, very much appreciated! :)
