Which is cheaper to run for short town use

1.6L Petrol CMax 2007 or a 2L Diesel CMax 2006

The petrol, the diesel wasnt made with short town trips in mind and the mileage to justify the initial purchase cost of a diesel over a petrol and cost difference at the pump needs to be taken into consideration as you need to do around 12K plus miles a year to justify these differences

Does it matter for short town use? You won't use enough fuel in either for it to make much difference.

The Petrol, without question. I'm sick of people buying a diesel because it's cheaper to run, then doing small town use and paying through the nose to have the particulate trap cleaned when the car won't start any more.
