EFI System Partition

Does anybody know what this is and what it does to affect my PC?

I did a re install of windows today, before i did a re-install it just said system re severed, After formatting then re installing it says EFI System partition & I noticed in my BIOS "Windows Boot Manager" which is something new.

Any Idea?

I guess you installed windows 8 with UEFI in bios or something.Im 99% sure thats the partition needed for these newer EFI/UEFI boot things that basically improve boot times.Ive hard it said its smoke and mirrors though and its not even a proper shutdown but a sleep/hybrid or something.

I would guess yours is partly setup as full UEFI secure boot requires bios roms for gfx and addin cards which 90% dont.

Someone else im sure can guide you through full UEFI if needed.

Alright re installed, but when reformatting it didn't decide to use the 100mb as System Reservered. What should i do with this unallowcated 100mb? I made it into a volume and tried extending it onto my SSD but that wouldn't work
