EFL Cup - Quarter-Final ** Spoilers ** [29 - 30 November 2016]

Think Positive :D

So far he hasn't dived into any challenges like he used to..

Thats a good point. I haven't seen his gurning face recently either. Hes done alright from what I can tell. Even Rojo isn't as bad as he usually is.

I think he'd be fine as the holding / cleanup player in a 3, basically the Carrick role, so something like:

Blind
Herrera - Pogba
Mkhi - Ibra - Martial

This is the lineup I've wanted to see for so long :( Blind isn't a defender, he's a decent utility defender, but his reading of the game screams for him to sit, recycle and intercept in the holding spot. Giving freedom and safety to pogba and herrera.

Isn't that the position where he won Dutch player of the year?

Need I mention a certain winger in Utd's squad that was also the player of the year, that cant adjust to the league.......that shows how much the difference in quality is between the two leagues

Oh absolutely, however I don't think depay has the attitude to succeed in transition. Blind is a good footballer and has the right mentality. I'd like to see him sat in there or at least given the chance.

personally think he isnt built correctly for such a frenetic league to be in a central position - imagine him against Ozil / Coutinho /Yaya / Fernando , he would be bullied from pillar to post

Need someone taller and preferably stronger in the EPL

Err yeh, those man mountains Ozil and Coutinho, and the magnificent immobile Toure.

Matic, Kante, Gueye are all seeming to do well in there. For me it's more about reading the game, intercepting and positioning for tackles than it is strength and height. I suppose we could put Fellaini in there, he's taller and a muscle man :p

it seems as though Matic is a bit taller, but admittedly Kante is a moderate titch

I still think there is a lot to be said for added height especially in defending set pieces etc (and even attacking the opponants goal in their own set pieces) , the former obviously being a core of their game.

At the end of the day neither LvG or JM think Blind is a midfielder in the EPL , after a few games there to start with I dont believe he has given another CM competitve start for over 18 months, certainly not regularly (and JM said over the summer he was more an outright defender)

Yeah but lets face it what the **** does Mourinho know? He seems to think a right back is better than the 3 left backs we have at the club, Fellaini is a footballer and Mkhitaryan up to a week ago was utterly worthless.
