Did anybody else get one of these?

About your Egg Card account
You do not currently have a Direct Debit set up on your Egg Card account.

What to do next
Please make an immediate payment of at least your minimum payment and set up a new Direct Debit if you`ve not already done so. This will stop your account going into arrears and you will not incur a default charge if you make the payment in the next 5 days.

To make a payment
Select the `Move money` tab and choose the `Make a one-off payment` option, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

To re-set your Direct Debit
From the `Your money` page, select to `view` Egg Card. Then choose `Your Direct Debit` from the options on the left of the page and select `Change your Direct Debit bank details`.

If you`re having trouble finding the money to make your monthly payments, you can talk to us about alternative options or help with getting on top of your finances by calling on 08456 000 296 (Monday to Friday 8am - 9pm and Saturday 8am - 7pm) or click on `log out`, then select `Help` at the top of this page. Finally, choose `Money worries` from the menu on the right.

My egg account is a few years old now and has always had a direct debit set up on it, no details have changed and thus the only way this has happened would be Egg's error. I am going to go ballistic if they attempt to charge me any fees or interest.

You forgot that the bank could have cancelled it.

Log in to your egg account, check the details, reset up the DD and if necessary use the secure email thing to query it if you've been charged.

Problem solved.

Egg are appaling. Bloody disgrace they are....cancelled my card (i had been with them for 5 years) because I pay off my full balance every month, so now I take every opertunity to bad-mouth them and ward people away.

My bank has no reason whatsoever to cancel it.

And yeh, I know how to solve the issue thanks, it wasn't really my point.

Yep, I agree with this guys comments. Did the same to me, citi bank are also the same, I heard that citi bank took over egg operations and its been downhill since IMO.

Ditch egg, and get another credit card, plenty of them out there. Egg /citi bank are disgraceful credit providers...

Company in not providing a service to unprofitable customer shocker!!

Egg are fine, not as good as they used to be rates wise perhaps, but I've never had a problem with them.

But each time he uses his card, the credit card company earns a transaction fee, so just having and using the card is enough, but due to him paying off each month, as so did I, its not enough....

Sorry, but I agree with him. He has a right to have an egg card the same as you, regardless of how he operates his account....

Rates wise there are loads of cc companies better than them...same on the customer service front too. Bloody poor....steer well clear imo

No-one has a right to have a credit card, the business issues them on the terms they choose, and if they choose they don't want people as their customers any more, that's their right. The thing Egg did wrong was imply that it was credit rating or profile related, which gave it an unnecessary negative tone (although the credit profile thing is accurate, many people just don't understand it)

Credit card companies are a business not a service.

Egg do actually suck!!!

They cancelled my card 3 days before I went to Africa last year cos I was one of the customers who paid on time.

I totally agree...however as far as I'm concerned they have lost me as a customer forever now, not only that, my whole family and friends. If credit cards are ever brough up I will make sure to steer people away from Egg. I must have cost them a fortune so far :D

Indeed, as is your right. I just felt a need to present an alternative viewpoint and the business logic for their decision. It wasn't random, it was clearly thought out and based on your card usage pattern and value to the business.

...and highly detremental to future business as it turns out! ;)

That depends, sheer customer numbers aren't the be all and end all, you have to consider average revenue per customer too. The people most likely to be put off Egg by the stories of account closure for not being profitable may well be those not likely to be profitable customers, in which case it's not a huge loss, it could even be considered a plus to let the 'burdens' go to your competitors.

The amount of bad publicity it got was huge and you know for a fact that every person that had their card taken away for being a 'bad' customer told all their friends and familys too....
