Someone at the gym said to me day before last that if you eat 6 eggs in the morning, when you crack open the eggs you should take the yellow bits out appart from one, coz the white part is the protein and the yellow part is the fat, is this true? And is that where the expression egg whites came from?

Also, if this is true, I imagine the eggs tasting wierd without the yellow bit? I usually make scrabled egg with 6 eggs every morning but if I take 5 yellow bits out and leave just one yellow bit for taste as he told me to do, then I imagine it not tasting good? I've never had a egg before without the yellow bit? What do you think?

Is there that much fat in an egg anyways? I read online that an average egg is 80 calories.

Reason am asking all this is because I'm a gym junkie and try my best to learn as much as possible about food. I try to keep my protein intake high, but fat, salt, carbs, calories all low.

Also someone said that changing your body as a gym junkie is 75% food? this cant be true? can it? I mean, obviously you have to eat well and go to gym, because doing both work together, like if you eat crap and go to gym then obviously your not gona get anywhere. But I always presumed as a percentage that the exercise was like 65% and food 35% so to be told food is 75% seems a high figure? What do you think?

Thanks in advance:confused:

someone at your gym thinks the white part of an egg is the bit that has the protein? oh dea.

The white is almost entirely protein...

Composition:

The egg white is approximately two-thirds of the total egg's weight out of its shell with nearly 90% of that weight coming from water. The remaining weight of the egg white comes from protein, trace minerals, fatty material, vitamins, and glucose.[1] The U.S. large egg's white weighs 38 grams with 4.7 grams of protein, 0.3 grams of carbohydrate and 62 milligrams of sodium. The U.S. large egg white contains about 20 calories.[2] Egg white has no dietary cholesterol. Egg white contains approximately 40 different proteins.[3] Below is a list of the proteins found in egg whites by percentage along with their natural functions.[1][4]

54% Ovalbumin - Nourishment; blocks digestive enzymes
12% Ovotransferrin - Binds iron
11% Ovomucoid - Blocks digestive enzymes
4% Ovoglobulin G2
4% Ovoglobulin G3
3.5% Ovomucin
3.4% Lysozyme
1.5% Ovoinhibitor
1% Ovoglycoprotein
0.8% Flavoprotein
0.5% Ovomacroglobulin
0.5% Avidin
0.05% Cystatin

Source.

The white isn't entirely protein, BUT it is a good source of protein as it contains very little fat or cholesterol. The proteins in it are special as well, as they are very easily absorbed by the body, which, AFAIK, is unrivalled by any other source.

People sometimes remove the yolks because they contain fat and cholesterol as well as protein, but in moderation they are fine.

Thanks for your replies so far, but what about the last section of my post:

"Also someone said that changing your body as a gym junkie is 75% food? this cant be true? can it? Any ideas?

well if you cut down on all the fat and sugars you wont have to work as hard to apear healthy.

you would be amazed at the ammount of fat and junk in a lot of foods

where are the gym people when you need them, Wait for Freefaller or Morba to find this thread.

from my limited knowledge they both have protein but the yolk also has lots of collesterol but at the same time also a lot of nutrition and omega 3.

Eat it all unless you are really trying to lose weight. gotta eat to gain muscle. /flexes tiny bicep.
