I took around 1200 photos during the trip and these are some of the ones from my first day there. I'll post a few more as I get through them. I suspect it's going to take a while.

1. The Giza Pyramids.

2. The Great Pyramid of Giza, also called Khufu's Pyramid or the Pyramid of Khufu, and Pyramid of Cheops.

3. This friendly chap offered to pose for a photo for me - for a small donation of course... This is taken in front of the Pyramid in Saqqara.

4. Peering down a dim alley way in Cairo whilst looking for a restaurant - This shot appealed to me and is representative of many back streets in Cairo.

5. A photo from the top floor in the Ramses Hilton in Cairo over the Nile River. The Bar at the top was called the Windows of the World

Nice.

In # 2 did you use a polariser on a ultra wide angle lens?
I don't like the severe blue top right, and I think the distortion has flattened the pyramid too much with the large blue sky above making it oook very small. If you use a UWA lens get very close to the subject and be very careful with distortion

#1 doesnt do it for me, but #2 #3 certainly are stunning :D Went to egypt many years ago myself!

Look forward to seeing a few more :)

It was shot with a Sigma 10-20mm with a Cokin P series ND Grad filter over the front. The vertical 'compression' is due to looking straight up the edge of the pyramid and unless I want to start clipping off the sides and potentially the bottom of the photo I don't want to get any closer. By nature a wide angle lens is going to suffer from barrel distortion. I'm relying on the people in the photo to provide a scale reference.

I do see what you mean tho and I guess there is some personal preference in it - I quite like the effect but I have done a re-edit just for you :D

Cheers for the kind comments guys!

Very little - they're mostly shot with the Sigma 10-20mm and a Cokin P ND Grad filter on the front. It's quite a hard filter - I really need to buy a softer one. Pretty much the only processing is done in Lightroom with slight exposure tweeks, upping the saturation a little and contrast.

The first one has the most processing on it I think. Mostly because the light was really harsh but very oddly coloured - Quite yellow and hazy.
