I'm currently planning a PC rebuild with a few minor mods. I'm looking to continue to use my Asus P5K 775 motherboard, and while thinking about green lighting etc, I noticed that I have a red EIDE socket. My first thought was to try and get a cover for it, but now I'm wondering if I can use this for anything else.

Anyone any ideas about how I can make use of this in today's world of SATA?I quite like the idea of this being a power source for lighting instead of a molex...

Thanks Philly - worth asking the question anyway. Need to decide how to cover it now...

You could always use it for optical drives if you have any. The speed difference won't be that noticeable and it'll free up another slot for a sata hard drive.

Either that or I'd just leave it.
