UK team title race is progressing beyond expectations, we may be seeing a trend now where our PPD crosses the 1 Million mark at the weekends and drops a little mid week.
It's a big task to take the UK title but you have risen to the challenge and then some!
We seem to have a steady flow of new members coming in, this was a surprise. To those people I say thankyou & welcome to the team.
Andy_taximan & Senture maintain thier powerhouse status, they appear to be taking it in turns wearing the PPD Crown but keep an eye on your rear view mirror!

but I can't really be in 5th place in the Active Contributors (Total & PPD) list can I?

At the time of writing you did have the fifth highest PPD (not RAC), a quick look shows that since that time you been overtaken by Zapp3012 and my goodself - I have started to leave the PC on while I'm at work :)

I use PPD a lot because it reflects whats actually happening right now, with RAC the figures takes weeks to stabilize.
Reading it back I can see what you mean though so I edited the title.
Now stop moaning and get crunching ya slacker :p

UKBoink teams output has been falling all week - are they folding under the pressure?
Their output was around 400k a month ago but that has now fallen to 189k
Even more amazing, our PPD yet again hits a new high -

1,582,938 !!!!!!

(Graeme appears to have changed his name to Postmanfw)

Everyones contribution has been fantastic but I think it would be unfair (considering the outlay)
not to single out 4 people who's output has gone way beyond the call of duty - Ba, PDW, Andy and Senture - we salute you.
This is why I love Team OcUk, everynow and then it seems to go through a quite patch but poke it with a stick .........and the beast roars
One thing is certain - WE WILL BE NUMBER ONE :D

Not sure when I can get back to restart it but at least I can do some units overnight on my laptop's 780M :)

I'm sure you will do all you can - thanks

SR-2 back up and running, back to 2 GPU's we will see how it fairs.

Good to hear no lasting damage to such an exotic piece of kit - 2 is still fantastic

Worth puttin it on the dual Xeon in there?

Now its funny you should mention that as I was considering the very same thing this morning.
I'm most likely looking at lower level kit than yourself. I'm running a X5660 on a X58 board now
so a move to a dual 1366 board would be my preference.
I have no experience of 2P boards and of the reading I have done so far (and correct me if I am wrong anyone)
here are some of the things I should look out for -
Different mainboard power sockets/requirements?
Different fan headers?
Possible weird form factors
CPU heatsinks - normal LGA1366 jobs?
Then there is server ram
Not that important but would overclocking be possible?
So any tips on ones to avoid would be welcome
If it turns out to be to problematic I'll opt to stay with my current setup & install a 2nd gpu.

Missed me ;)

2015-12-01 pnutty 500,000

Suddenly there was a puff of smoke and ...........:D

Congrats to Ba for taking number 1 spot ,im sticking to 1 pc for now tho still lol

PDW has the top spot for PPD, his and Ba's output is extraordinary (there is not much in it) and 1 pc of yours is just fine.

Dunno mate, I've just got a Mac Pro with dual Xeon 1366's in it :D

Crossed lines on my part, no matter, onwards & upwards :o

Have you all noticed the new guy, Postmanfw, he's 4th on PPD already :D, Senture's knocked me down a place and I have
Zapp, Pnutty & kolala all bitting my ppd butt - awesome I think  :D

Up until now I have not mentioned how long it will take to claim the UK number one spot.
This was deliberate, I worried early on as 1 person almost spelt it out, thankfully they did not.
Why, well at the beginning it did look a duanting task and I worried that people would not engage.
I know we can do it if people just stay the course.
So for the first time, reluctantly, I'm going to lay the facts bare, based on thier PPD remaing unchanged -

In 100 days based on our ppd of 1,000,000

1.UKBoink = 459415819
2.OcUK = 436403371

In 100 days based on our ppd of 1,200,000

1.UKBoink = 459415819
2.OcUK = 456403371

In 100 days based on our ppd of 1,250,000

1.OcUK = 461403371
2.UKBoink = 459415819

At the moment our PPD is in the region of 1,200,000 to 1,500,000 per day but it is beyond expection for it to remain so high

The foot soldiers are very important here to take some pressure off our heavy hitters, its a bit of an ask for them to maintain
thier output levels for 100 days. So to the other members (myself included) we need your very best for as long as you can.

Once we take the title we can lower the PPD considerably, most likely we can retain it without the assistance of the big hitters completely.

So there you have it, its upto you how fast we make this happen - anything worth having isn't easy

All the contributors will have thier usernames listed on the official Einstein Team page as being part of this awesome event and I will also create
personlised certificates which will be sent to your Boinc Einstein email address (so you dont have to be a forum member to be involved)..

This is the OcUK Enstein 100

Sadly, not only is my pending count still rising but I also have another couple of cards to change over from GIMPS to Einstein.
This can only mean that my PPD should rise even higher in the next week or two. Sorry

It was like an emotional rollercoaster reading your post, you have a strange sense of humour......and I like it :D

Have switched to Einstein to become a footsoldier

The Right Honourable Tross, it gives me great pleasure to see you back here mate - now get your combats on, grab your weapon and man the wall ya slacker

And more good news is its only 7 days till we overtake AMD USERS

Was just about to post info on this and more, will follow below :D

Just finishing up some World Community Grids and then switching my CPU over to Einstein which will run with DENIS, when it's back up.

Woohoo, as before, grab ya weapon and man the wall........and make it sharpish :p

Just noticed from my sig that I slipped into the team #3 spot yesterday:)

Currently selling kit so not sure how long I can keep this up.

Well done S'ah and whatever you can give is fine with me, what you have put out accross OcUK's DC projects has been inspiring, we are lucky to have you

Teams totally insane PPD for last 24 hours was 1,876,093

Teams individual output

PDW and Ba have officialy gone ballistic, having recently left Earth's atomsphere they are bodly going
were no OcUK'r has gone before, between them they are putting out 900,000 PER DAY
Senture, pnutty, Postmanfw, MGP & Zapp, OcUK's assault troops providing support with 476,846 PPD
The rest of us covering the rear with 293,183 PPD (this, on its own, is more than UK Boinc's total output)

How are we doing globally?

Well, out of 11,284 Teams, we are currently ranked 56th - here as some overtakes on the horizon.
Stats based on RAC so we will actually overtake them sooner than stated below, a few much much sooner

New member - Streetlight joins us from Gridcoin and wastes no time at all strapping on his camo undipants and getting stuck in with his 2 pc's.
He has the 13th highest PPD already so obviously its going to increase significantly.
If you needed any proof ......

Streetlight passes 50,000

Edit: just remembered your the 4P Opteron dude, popcorn time :D

Speaking of new members, Postmanfw decided not to deliver the mail today, he pumped out 132,660 points instead, I'll put a stamp on that :D

Update: As I write these words the teams PPD has most likely passed 2 MILLION!

Will have to wait for a stats update to confirm.

Update 2: Why wait, I know it has, everyone grab a slice of cake

I've just added 10 cpu cores, every little helps, getting caught up in the enthusiasm of this thread ! :)

In the words of Murray Walker - GO GO GO :D

Even my raspberry pi is doing is part lol

Game on!

Hardcore attititude - like :D

Got 2x6970 sitting here but cant get open cl to run so they can work...not sure if they would do much?

How many gpu work units are people running with their cards?

If you can get them running they would likely kick my butt, 3072 streams sounds
great but I know nothing about Radeons on Einstein, sure you will get some feedback off the others.

How many gpu units running? info not much use to you but my 660ti is running 2 no problem, could
run 3 but dont know how if would effect my PPD so afraid to mess with it at the moment.

At work all weekend peeps so do us proud - latter ;)

I used to go away for weeks in a state of confusion.

Albert Einstein

Got my 3 day shift out of the way, the insanity that is the peak trading period is in full effect. Needed a little time to wind down.

Speaking of insanity - what the hell have you lot been doing!
You have broken my graphs, stomped teams to bits - crikey, someone even managed to replicate himself
I just cant leave you alone for 2 minutes without you being very very naughty

...............in the most awesome way!
There is a lot to digest here, give me a couple of hours to prep a mega update

Intermission

Suppose I have a machine that creates pies and anti-pies ( I like steak and kidney, but cream & custard is fine too ). If a pie and an anti-pie meet they annihilate and you get a taste explosion. What is more is that we can make (anti-)pies that can only be eaten when held in the left hand, and likewise (anti-)pies eaten with the right. Normally if I make a right handed pie then also a left handed anti-pie comes out too ie. pie-ness and handed-ness are conserved. However each pie or anti-pie can also 'decay' into two or more other smaller/lesser pies of different varieties. So a single cream&custard pie might become a cream pie and a custard pie. Likewise an anti-steak&kidney pie may decay to an anti-steak and an anti-kidney pie.

Curious? - read Mike Hewson's recent post in full here

Why choose Einstein@home

It's clearly a cutting edge project, about as 'pure' as science as can be. I think I should mention that I personally have been less than impressed with some explanations from other projects as to whether any results ( or benefit thereof ) will be in the public domain upon completion. They know who they are, and my PC will not be assisting them. I am pleased in the knowledge that my PC WILL assist with any discovery in the nascent field of gravitational wave astronomy - which it WILL.

Mike Hewson (Einstein@home Forum Moderator)

Most forum members will be aware of this already - Radeon Crimson drivers cause meltdown

Never used Radeons on Einstein myself. I have an old pdf showing the performance of various nvidia and amd gpu's - covers upto the Titan 1 and the AMD 7990.

You can download it here

Its interesting as it shows the effects of different CPU/GPU loads

How do you guys run multiple WU's?
I'm only running 1 on my R9 Fury, and it's averaging around 77% load. (WU takes ~42 minutes)

In account go into Einstein@Home preferences and change the gpu utilization figures to 0.5 for 2 0.33 for 3 or 0.25 for 4 etc

Note that the changes may not take effect until you download new work, so if you have a weeks work stashed it could take a while.
At least this was my experience, I tried read config file, read local config file after I changed the value's and nothing happened.
Days later my gpu started doing 2 at once - I assume that was the reason anyway?

Teams totally insane PPD for last 24 hours was 3,465,073

An astonishing number everyone, just when you think it surely cannot go higher, it does

Teams individual output

Ba, Streetlight (Firstborn) and PDW continue to astonish, insane numbers - collectively 2,172,506 PER DAY......wow
OcUK's assault troops - currob, Postmanfw, Andy, MGP and pnutty providing tactical support with 698,300 PPD, again a huge increase since the last update.
The rest of us raised the bar as well - 517,357 PPD, almost matching the assault troops - way to go!!!

How are we doing globally?

8th highest PPD in the world

Multiple overtakes, which at our level is a rare thing -

From 56th at the last update, now sitting pretty at 54th

Teams Stomped

AMD Users (55th)
UH IT HPC (54th)

Teams in our sights

Crystal Dream - likely stomped already
Intel Corp - likely stomped already
boinc.cz - approx 7 days
Boone Sch - Iowa - approx 14 days
UK Boinc Team - approx 24 days

My apologies for the delay getting this up, have a lot on at the moment, note I havent had time to work out the global overtakes properly.
Our teams RAC is roughly half our PPD so I just halved the official overtake stats - lazy I know but I aint got the time today - sorry.

I've had my own small success as I'm now #1 for the people who joined the project the same day I did :D

Well done, I have a bit (actually a lot) of work to do on that front due to a German nutter , at least he appears to have retired.

Great news derk !! :)

Thanks and keep up the good work :)

(recent) Record breaking day yet again i see :)
