Hi guys and girls.

Yet another EK supereme HF CPU block cracked. Also found cracks in the res. Can anyone recommend an alternative block that would fit and less prone to cracking?? and cheap... :-)

How hard are you screwing them in? From the looks of it it seems to be from your screwing rather than the block.

Remember you don't need to overkill tighten the fittings, you'll ruin the fitting and the seal o-ring.

See I though that but then I googled it and there's been a fair few incidents like it. I've never had an issue with them but if it's two in a row it's got to be a bad batch(dates of Google search suggest not) or user error sorry.

The angle of the cracks do appear to be over tightening the way they radiate. If it were a manufactoring flaw Id expect to see a single spider web type crack.

I didn't actually screw this one in that hard this time. I think it may have happened when I lifting the loop out a couple of days ago to clean the fans out but I dont know.

They wasn't that tight anyway.

Well the easy way would be to get an acetal/nickel block instead of plexi, occams razor and all that, but I suspect you want the bling factor of the plexi block :)

I am going to have to be careful when I fit my new Supremacy Evo with the plexi top by the look of it. I will be paranoid over the damn thing now.

Plexi can be quite brittle, I've had similar fracturing on my ac d5 tops.

Tend to buy full metal or acetal top blocks now.

As for spares, check ek's store, they used to sell spare tops for the supreme hf.

Im not really bothered how it looks atm, I just don't want to worry about it fracturing and seeping water over 100's of pounds worth of cards.

Plexi is fine so long as you don't over tighten your fittings, remember fittings have O rings to make the seal. If you are having these sort of issues go for acetal or metal topped blocks.
