EK DDC or D5?

I received my D5 pump with the XRES 140 pump top from another supplier as OCUK has been out of stock of them for a while. Sadly when I opened it, it looks like it's already been opened as the seals where broken and there is scratching on the tube and top so I'm in the process of sending it back.

Anyway, even though I knew the measurements, it looks a lot more bulky than I imagined. I have seen a Bitspower DDC pump top that you can see here.. Click here for youtube. This looks like it would look less in your face, but I'm not sure on the DDC pump as people keep saying they are a lot louder than the D5?

I have the EK DDC 3.2 PWM X-RES 140 and without antivirabition it's really loud as the pump is in the base and transfers it's energy through the case. However, with a anti vib Matt and using the PWM, I have been very pleased with the noise level. My fans make more noise then the pump. I worried that I should have got the D5, but I am happy with the pump.
I imagine that what ever model you pick, think about how you mount the pump, so that it's not in direct contact with the case and maybe go for the one that suits the case. I have a Parvum S2 and so the DDC flat bottom is easy to sit in the case on a Matt.

Yeah, the DDC does look a lot easier for mounting in smaller cases. The D5 pump tops seem massive compared to what you can get the the DDC.. I was going to use some uni holder 50-70 brackets, screw them to the case floor, then attach the mounting bracket to that.

I never had a D5 pump, but my DDC pumps are quiet in my opinion (I have a 10W and a 18W), my fans running at 1200 rpm make more noise.

I'm guessing if I went for either of the DDC or D5 in pwm it would be virtually silent at idle anyway..

Can't seem to find the Bitspower upgrade kit anywhere, I wanted to go for something like this..

DDC is much smaller than a D5.

However, D5 is cooled by the loop, whereas a DDC may need a heatsink or at least some airflow depending on where you put it and the speeds you're running it at.

I wasn't aware of this. I've got two ddc pumps in my loops cramped up in the drive bays side by side with no air flow or heatsinks. Been like this for about six years now without any issue

The bottom cover I would get for the DDC acts as a heat sink, plus it would be sat in a direct airflow path behind the front fans. I may have to go with the DDC as I'm struggling to fit the D5.

Got one myself, they look really smart, had to order from USA though.

No chance of that i'm afraid, i only got it a couple of weeks ago and i'm just getting to use it now.

Cost me $73 shipping and £43 import tax for all the stuff i got so i'm holding on to it all for a LONG time. :)

you can get the ddc upgrade kit from a place in holland, i dont think i can say the name of company , i know this as im looking to order this to.
