My pump, EK D5 PWM, runs at very low rpms when it's just plugged into the PSU. There's lot of info on the net about it. The general consensus is that it reverts to 60% pwm duty when just connected to 12V but I'd say mine was much lower. When I set it to "full on" in bios I only get about 3500rpms, about 70% so dunno what's up with that. In saying that though, this means I just leave it at full on in bios all the time as I can't hear it.
I wouldn't bother with a pwm pump again because of this.
One more header taken up and an extra cable to manage!
I thought my pump was broken at first, it was pumping so slow when got it. Took ages to fill the loop. When I connected up the whole system and got into bios I was able to increase the speed alright. I thought it would be the same as a pwm fan running at 12v until pwm controlled.
