5 of the standoffs on my titan x pascal around the gpu die have come away from the block and are stuck to the screws on the other side of the card. EK support are telling me to use pliers to get them off but the standoffs only have one straight edge and a single slip could mean a scratched pcb and broken card. And a borked Titan x pascal is not something I need!!

I’m only taking it off to fit another acetyl and nickel block and backplate from them anyway!!

I just need one of whatever they use in the factory to tighten them into the block in the first place...

Is it EK Luc that looks after this forum? It would be great to be able to get in touch with him...

@EK Luc

Thanks

Take a pair of pliers and wrap masking tape a couple of times around the jaws to protect the board in case the pliers slip. If you are careful they shouldn't but if they do the board will be protected. It's the only way you are going to get them off. Once off put a bit of threadlock on the standoff's thread so it won't come out again.

Thanks mate. I was wondering about just screwing them back into the block with threadlock then trying to remove the screws after it had dried...

Edit - I managed to get one out with pliers, the others all have components to near to get a good grip. Gonna try some loctite

Are they not the ones that have the slots on the side for a 5 or 6mm spanner?

I’ve had one come out before and I’m sure that’s what I used in fear of chewing the originals up with pliers.

I think you may be right. I’ll try to find a spanner set that small. Thanks dude. Annoying I’m getting more help here than from the EK support!!

Yeah but it’s a lot trickier than it sounds. The stand off is only about 7mm and they’re surrounded by components

Socket set doesn’t work because 4 of the hex edges are part of a larger circle. I’m gonna try a small wrench I have from ikea...(wrapped it tape)

Depending on how tight they are, you could try some blutack held down on top of the standoff with a finger, then unscrew from the other side?
