EL wire / string

has anyone got some of this el wire? can you tell me how bright it is?

i'm looking to do a mod but need some low heat bright lighting, i'm currently using LED's but the light is too direct and i need a more spread out type of light and i thought EL wire might just do the job.

so if you have any then how bright does it glow

I had some a few years ago and it almost set fire to me room

Could've changed though

If i can remember rightly it doesnt shine out like a led, but in the dark you might get a dull blue and just about see other components.

yeah i had heard a few horror stories but that was mainly about the glowing sata cables setting on fire etc.

where i will be putting them is rather inaccesible so safety is paramount, hmm anyone else got some and not had it set on fire
