Anyone know of any good deals/websites for buying electric guitar strings please? Specifically looking for some decent quality 10's for 6 string lead guitar.

Happy to make a "bulk" purchase (say 10 or 12 sets) if it's at the right price.
Could also do with a couple of sets of Steinberger double ball ended.

Cheers!

I used to order from thomann when I used to live in France and always bought at least 10 sets at a time. Check Andertons and dv247 they've often got deals on.

Forgot to say, check stringsdirect as well

Strings Direct was the one I originally found and wondered if there are any others out there.

Do you know if there is any difference between those Legacy Pro-Tone strings and the D'Addario EXLs and Ernie Ball Slinkys? They all seem to be Nickel Wound and Googling for reviews just takes me back to Strings Direct :D.

the legacy pro tone ones are stringsdirect's own brand but that's all I know. I've tried many (MANY) strings in the past 10years and I always seem to go back to Ernie Ball or GHS.
the legacy ones are quite cheap so you could order a set and try them out (and let me know as well :p)
I would have sent you a couple sets of ernie ball but i'm all out.

just out of interest, what gauge do you use?

10 - 46. Always been a bit heavy handed on the rhythm so I tend to break D, A and bottom E strings rather than the top ones like most people :)

I break most of them as well. I used to play on 11-52 in E standard. I know use it for D#.
ghs boomers were the ones that lasted me the longest.

I started out using mostly Ernie Ball, tried a few other brands along the way and have been playing D'Addario in recent times. In all honesty I can't say I've found much difference between them, hence why I was toying with trying the Legacy Pro-Tone strings from Strings Direct.

Ebay looks promising for D'ADDARIO EXL110 NICKEL WOUND - seems to work out around £3.40 per set if buying a 3 pack.

Amazon?

For example, I use Elixir 11s on the Taylor

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

£10.45 each

£11.95 each, even if you get 10 it is still £11.39 each.

Over £10 for a set of strings? You have expensive tastes my friend :D

Still, they apparently have an "Ultra-Thin Nanoweb Coating"

Do they really last much longer? I rarely go more than a couple of gigs without breaking a string and I wouldn't be happy if that still happened after paying 3x as much as normal.

Have you tried thomann? They used to sell the big boxes of D'Addario

They also sell Harley Benton Valuestrings - £0.78 per set  Never seen strings so cheap.

They do have some pretty good prices on other guitar strings, but the 10 Euro shipping charge kind of kills it. Unless I make my order up to £164 for free shipping ;)

That's what they ship the guitar with.

That's true. If you've got friends that need strings as well just do a bulk order maybe?
When I did it I bought some stands, picks and cables as well so it was free shipping.

Oh forgot to say, don't buy harley benton strings. I ordered a couple of sets a while back and they're terrible.
