Does anybody on here have any form of electric radiator as the primary source of heating in their house, excluding storage heaters.

I'm chucking the storage heaters in my house, as they are old, crap and not needed. I have an air source heat pump which heats most of the house, so the electric radiators would mainly be for a boost in temp.

I've been looking at various kinds of wifi enabled radiators, but there doesn't seem to be a real big player in that sort of market.

I had a client who used Haverland Radiators throughout, he absolutely loves them - not sure of tha exact spec but pretty sure they can be app controlled

Yes they have a model that can be controlled by an app. Were they noisy at all? There's the odd complaint about noises online, but its hard to judge them when there's no online reviews.

They were used in a holiday home but don't think there was any comments about the noise (to date anyway!)

Just think about how much heat a room requires say about 1. 5 kw per room, 7 rooms maybe at 14p a unit that's about £1.50 an hour to heat the house. Silly expensive.
Heating in ours at the minute is on about 7 hours a day during the week and about 16 hours at weekend. That's about £34.50 a week.
All very roughly calculated but you get the idea.

As a primary source of heating, I know they are expensive. The thing is, the house has an air source heat pump that heats most of it, and an open fire (soon to be a stove). These would just be for very cold days.

Thermostatically controlled electric heaters are much better today than they were in the past.

A 1.5-3kw heater still uses 1.5-3kw per hour how many of them do you want running for a couple of hours a day? Electrical heating is and always will be a very inefficient and expensive means of heating a house.

The only other options are very expensive new storage heaters, or installing an oil, lpg or air source heat pump central heating system. All of those systems would cost probably over double what I would spend on electric radiators. Seeing as this is a backup to the other forms of heating, what would be the point?

Economy 7 is pointless to me when I have an air source heat pump that I want to use whenever, but requires an input of electricity to run.

The largest radiator I would need is still only 1.7kw, with the other 3 being less than 1kw.
